Giving Thanks

I know everyone is building epic villages and whatnot, but all I aspire to is a little farm. I've finally gotten things settled, and I have four different crops rotating on four sets of fields. A lot of this game is frustrating, Beta-stage, and downright RNG, so I thought I would take a moment to appreciate what I have, and give thanks that my hard work has paid off.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me, traded with me, and put up with my roleplaying. The game wouldn't be fun without those who play it.

I prefer the symmetry of 4 to 5

Nicely done, mate. Keep the good work up, Salem wouldn't be the same without you!

PS: I like the hat you're wearing. ;)

Well Done!

Based on the headache I got while looking at your pic ( jorb's nausea inducing isometric camera ), is it safe to assume that you are using the Default Client? If so, much of your frustration can be mitigated by using the Latikai or Ender Client.

It is worth mentioning here that you can change the camera mode in the default client to "freestyle" in the custom clients by the following console command:

:cam sucky

Once we get a skybox in as well as other general aesthetics we hope to make the freestyle cam the default setting when using the default client.

I use Latikai's client, but I rotate the map so that W heads North.

Ah OK. Do you prefer to use the Isometric Camera over the Freestyle Camera? I don't mean to derail your thread, I am just curious about your preferences. The Freestyle Camera offers you more freedom to rotate and zoom the camera. I feel like I am trapped in a bowl trippin' on acid when I use the Isometric Camera.

I don't know which camera I use, but the camera stays fixed as I travel. For me, it's more important to be moving in the cardinal directions when I use the keyboard; it helps me orient myself on the minimap and track down items as I forage. I also like to see my walls as a straight line, so I line it up with my chat bar when I log in. I hardly ever rotate the camera, and I always keep it at the furthest zoom, so I can see more of the world at once (I've got a 23 inch widescreen monitor).

I do like seeing minimized trees though; makes it easier to see things on the map.
