My first couple days in Salem.

When I first found Salem I was confused at how it would work. The idea of an entire world, open that you can change, is quite alien to what I usually play. While I have played my fair bit of sandbox type mmos, where your actions have affects on the entire game (Face of Mankind), this game is unique in its own way!

So far, the community has been very helpful. I've also gotten some laughs out of the forum posts some people make, mainly with the whole "scalping" thread. (I found that to be hilarious). I have to say, this game is excellent. I was just wondering, does anyone have any more pointers they could possibly give me? I'm not asking for help, just some guidance!

A big thank you to the two people who've really helped me in the game so far! I hope to see you all in-game!

also potjeh may have a green name but you probably know more about how the game works than he does, file his posts next to those of claeyt.

Well, it's hard just giving general hints. If I had to give one, it'd be this one: both hurry settling and put off settling. You'll want a base relatively fast, so you can start growing some crops for easy food. However, keep in mind that in all likelihood there'll be plenty of things wrong with the place you pick for your first base, and you shouldn't grow too attached to it. For one, I can strongly advise in favour of a base with a mine. (Of course in the current ecosystem of a pretty old server, there are plenty of unclaimed mines around you can settle near).

Which server are you on? There are lots of good-to-knows for each one.

0 Trust no one.
1 Kill or be killed.
10 Always keep in mind that EVERY character will be dead, EVERY town will be destroyed, EVERY game will be over some day.

P.S. Plymouth is a dead server.
