Gluttony King© - The go-to program for gluttony

Postby nico54k9 » Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:13 pm

Hello fellow pilgIrims.

As you may or may not know, i have been in the slow and tedious process of creating a program for any and all players to use freely. I made this new thread so I can stop posting in DarkNaht's topic. Here is also where I will post the link to download the program when it is completed.

There is nothing i can really reveal about the program as it has barely started construction. I am still working on the database in excel.
What i can reveal about the program is;
- vb.net coded
- name will be Gluttony King
- completely different to DaOpa's food calculator
(Shows an ordered list of food combinations and the
outcomes, rather than letting you choose the inputs)
- (hopefully) appealing and related graphics
- program will have 4 seperate parts; one for each bile
- tells you the ingredients needed to create the food you
want
- will be a search function that will be able to combine all
all the information from seperate biles of a particular
food into one, easy to read table. (Search, if possible,
will not be available at the release of the program)
- having the list design will make leveling your biles far
more effecient.
- hope to be able to add filters to the lists (won't be
available on initial release)
- there will not be foods in the program that use 'mixed'
ingredients. An example: sugar cap and blewit in a
mushroom pie, or mixing such things as different
grains together to get 'generic' flour. These are not
included as they cancel the multiplier matrix and
players would do well to never do this anyway...

So yeah I guess that's pretty much it. Don't have your hopes up for this program within the next few days. I'm aiming for it's completion a bit before Christmas, but it depends how much stuff pops up.

Why is it taking so long you might be asking...
- there is a 4x7x520 (about 520, can't remember exactly) table I have to fill in on excel as the database for the program. As it stands... I am only 1/4 of the way through this process. At the moment it is on pause as I am finishing up school and checking Dark's matrices for correctness before I proceed with calculating such things as the 196 different combinations of humble meat pie
- I have only created the front page of the program. I have not done any coding or the other four sections as I am waiting to finish the database.

Isn't much more to say really. Just hang tight and keep an eye on this post in the comming weeks as I'll update this for the program link.

Ps. Anyone willing to contribute help to creating this program, your help would be much obliged. I need to make a fair few foods (maybe about 50 in total) in game as I cannot calculate them.
I do not always have ingredients for these foods so if your willing to help out by making some foods (mostly will consist of foods containing the four types of corn), and sending me pictures of them, shoot me a pm.
Thankyou

Sidenote:

I have only checked the 4 grains, and rabbit meat matrices. Checking them takes a little bit of time since I need to make multiple food types.

About 99% sure the matrix/values on the wiki for Dry Pie are incorrect.

Found that the ingredients for wildberry pie on the wiki is different to the actually in-game ingredients.
Due to this, there could potentially be other foods/multiplier values that are different on the wiki and I have used them without checking. I will go over everything but there is still a good possibility of mistakes in the database (including simple typos)

If you need a beta tester (or alpha) you know where to find me :)

Also the wiki is not as current as everyone wants it to be.
Do mind Jorbtar can drop a new glut system anytime between now and next century.

I'm counting on it being some time next century haha. Mainly because I don't want this effort to go to waste. But if he does, I'm guessing/hoping it will be a change to how gluttony mode works, rather than how the food recipes work haha.

And yeah a few 'testers' would be helpful :)
Isn't much in the form of code testing, but general feedback and a few basic checks on foods will be helpful as doing it myself will just further extend the release date :P

The wiki is riddled with inaccuracy and outdated information. I wouldn't base anything like this on what it says...

Also, before sinking a bunch of time and effort into this program of yours, you may want to keep in mind that jorb and loftar are currently, or will soon™ be working on fixing the gluttony system, which could make all of your work irrelevant.

What I'll do is check the foods I have already calculated and make sure its ok. Then I will just use the client to get the actual information off so I have no other issues.

As for the new system. Like I said, I'm hoping the changes are to how gluttony mode works rather than how the food is calculated. The only way they can change the food is the required ingredients or the base matrix... But I personally don't see how this will help improve gluttony mode.
Also like RuneNL said, no one knows (probably not even the Devs) when it will be released. Could be tomorrow, could be mid next year. I don't really care if it goes to waste (if I wasn't that kind if person I wouldn't be playing Salem) because I had fun doing it :)

Sounds great.

This is not necessarily true there is a fairly good YB windy pooh that uses mixed garlic.

The recipe system and the gluttony system are 2 different things and the devs put a lot of work into the current recipe system so its unlikely they will be throwing it out, it works fine anyway it just needs to be expanded to all variable ingredients.

For a application called Gluttony King, I figured a complete revamp of the gluttony system might be relevant.

Sorry. I'll stop trying to help. My bad.

I was under the impression that mixing two ingredients (a garlic clove and garlic bulb) would cancel the entire garlic multiplier and just use the cabbage multiplier (in the case of a windy pooh)

As for the name 'gluttony king'... I decided on that name because the purpose of this program is essentially to help both new and old players see what exact foods they need to EFFECIENTLY eat in gluttony mode. Other than that, it has no relevance to gluttony mode really.
But however your input is valid. If someone gets that impersonation, I'm sure others will too. I shall rethink the name before release. Bile Master or something like that, not sure hahah.

Thanks guys

I think his point was that sometimes the modifiers are detrimental so a mixed ingredient, which avoids the modifier, can be better than even the best (least bad) ingredient modifier. For instance, it seems like timber rattler modifiers are pretty ****** and that it's usually better to do a timber rattler shredded meat + another shredded meat to choose no modifier over using all timber rattler for the shredded meat ingredient.

Sounds like garlic modifiers don't favor yb so avoiding the modifier ends up being better in that case.
