The upside of Chief's spamming

Postby jesi » Wed Nov 13, 2013 6:00 pm

I just spent a bit of time reading Chief's necros. FOr me the upside is I learned that while many of his earlier posts creating new topics were entertaining and well written, his attempts to post on every thread in existence are quite lame and un-interesting. I'm wondering if a little intervention is possible here, i.e. do people have some constructive ideas of how to get Cheif to stop spamming, and searching for a ban, and rather to focus his attention on the more creative types of posts he has been able to do in the past.

I would propose three possible cures to what you call "lame and un-interesting" activities:

1) A war with another faction (I miss the Mushibag standoff so much)
2) A permaban
3) A resurgence of forum activity

The Chief, really anyone who is participating/has participated in the forum nonsense, feeds off others and there is little question that The Chief's primary motivator for the more stunning posts has been competition. As a zealot of Nature herself, The Chief nourishes at the teat of your entertainment (in my opinion), turning his latest conquests into something for you, the average Joe of the forums, to applaud/snicker/scorn. But now, with things so quiet, with Plymouth having been near-completely cleansed of criminal activity, with developer silence in the way of updates, what's left? Take a week and jump to Roa or JT to bring those servers and their combined 75 active/semi-active players to justice? What should he do with the other 6 days?

To put it another way, when times are good, one may go off into the great sea of bodies in this world, find a mate, and dock genitals with passionate abandon. However, when the well has run dry, sometimes one has no choice but to masturbate vigorously with the tears of memories past while listening to a beatnik poetry. If you need help with which of the above portions of the metaphor we are currently experiencing, it's the latter, and while both may be entertaining, waxing the poet while waxing poetic doesn't quite have the same level of viewing pleasure.

If you'd like to see fireworks, my suggestion would be to bring a powder keg to Plymouth (and a few friends), work up some biles to challenge The Chief, and watch the sparks fly. It would make for a lovely Thanksgiving Day present for the rest of us. :D

tl;dr - Learn from The Chief's example and be patient as we wait for a return of life to the game and the forums. If activity rises here, it will directly increase the enjoyment you get from his antics.

Chief had to refrain from posting for such a long time...

I say let him get it out of his system.(yes I revoke my previous comment)

Besides I've seen a graduate rise in quallity.

I can assure you that the number of posts you experienced in the last 48 hours was nothing more and nothing less than you would have experienced had I not taken a spirit walk. A Lesser-Mod can in fact dam the river of knowledge and entertainment that is the Tribe but said dam will eventually break and said wisdom will eventually spill over. The latest Dam was larger and more ambitious than those in the past, and as such, the collateral damage of so much wisdom flowing at once in the form of perceived necro's was larger than normal.

Now that the world is right posting shall continue @ a healthy pace.
