Over the last few years there have been quite a few girl gamers getting up in arms about the general misogyny & harassment in games.
Comments such as "What are you doing out of the Kitchen?" and worse.
They have recorded some of these things and made sites dedicated to it.
I think this is a typical misinformed reaction by the girls: (WARNING SOME OF THIS IS GRAPHIC)

Do you agree with my assessment of this?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but they shouldn't try to force that opinion on everyone else.

I don't appreciate things like having to pay more taxes, or the inherent increase in the cost of goods and services, so childcare and maternity leave, which I have no intention of ever utilizing myself, can be provided to the new generation of self entitled woman. But you know, economic growth is tied closely to population growth so it's not all bad.

You won't see me whipping up a frenzy, trying to stir up a masculinist movement to fight the reverse sexism which worsens more every decade though, I have too much panache to degrade myself so.

1. Men are generally hardcase & abusive to each other and don't take it personally we call each other all manner of insults such as; gay, stupid, girls, and rape(even gay) is often threatened or said while beating others, along with the good 'ol tea bagging.
2. Many of these male players are 13-18 year old loser virgins who have no idea how to approach a girl online or especially in real life. Also girls say much negative harassment of other girls behind their back in real life (pregnancy, ****, fat, ugly, stupid, etc).
3. Yes, some of the abuse is scary and should be reported - server admin banning girl from server "Reason: No girls allowed." Threats of actual rape (not in game), genuine out of game private messaging with threats/abuse/bullying/harrassment (saying to commit suicide etc).

Do you agree with my assessment of this?

So I was teabagging this gay, stupid, girly-man the other day and some woman came up to me and was like, "there's too much harassment and misogyny in this game!" and I was all, "hey, I'm a 13-18 year old virgin and I have no clue what you're talking about but I totally just raped this guy"

Sorry for not bothering to find the link to their site - but it is just as I described it, mostly an over reaction to how guys interact with each other.

Probably not.

The other thing to remember is that us guys are trying to be "safe"... you know those rules of online chat and stuff about not knowing who's on the other end? "There's no such thing as girls online." "GIRL--Guy In Real Life" "If they say they're a woman, it's probably a man. If they say they're under 18, it's probably a fed." (Applies because there are those here that are of the age where that wouldn't be creepy.)

But as for those 3 statements in the OP:

1. I'll agree with this wholeheartedly. The problem is the "spirit" of competition without any of the normal things that would encourage us to behave somewhat civilly. There's also the problem that few people truly understand or otherwise care about sportsmanship or sportsmanlike conduct. We'll not go into the finer points of just general etiquette.

2. You need to check your numbers and do a bit of research. The numbers have flopped. 10 years ago, that might have been true (I doubt it was true then, but don't know any numbers to really make any statements), but now the average gamer is 23-35 and is nearly as likely to be female as male. (I've met more than a few women that act like men online to avoid the issues of stating their sex.) One statistic I ran across recently suggested less than a third of boys 13-18 spend more than a few hours a week on games and a good percentage don't play at all. School, sports, and other activities take up too much time. I really don't know what the accuracy of those numbers were, so they could have been made up, but they jive with what other numbers I've seen the last few years that were accurate and scientific. That the numbers have changed like this make these issues even sadder. Staying stuck behind a computer screen acting immaturely isn't going to change things, either.

3. This is just as stupid. Just goes to show you some boys never really grow up past 10 years old.

I will agree that females do get treated differently, but it's odd because the ***** the graphics of the game the more it tends to happen I've found
I've played on female characters in quite a few games (usually if I'm making an alt from my main I'll choose a female just so that it's a noticeable difference from my normal character) and I've noticed in games with better graphics like Aion, Tera, etc. people don't try to hit on female characters as often. (Likely because they know they're probably guys playing them for the bouncing tits lol)

Games like runescape or endless online have always seemed to have more sexism/different game experiences based on the gender you're playing
