Salem

I think the Salem thread at mmorpg.com could use some favorable bumpy posts. I don't know why people bother to look into a game...pay money, don't bother to read about the mechanics or possible issues and ways to avoid them on the forums then go to a major gaming site and post things like this.

I posted my response, since I like the game a tonne. I think it is well thought out, thoughtful to the players in trying to provide a game that is engaging, fun and yes sometimes frustrating. It is different than anything I've ever played and I'm excited to see how it progresses.

Just thought the thread could maybe use some POSITIVE posts about the game from Salem's super community!

Eh, I remember that guy. He was a ***** douchebag. I would be much obliged if you could link this thread on mmorpg.com so they can relive the tears that we all enjoyed so very much.

Who is the ******* at the end saying you can't play solo. I hit my one year anniversary in Salem this month and just finally got raided this month (that's only because they purposely hunted me down as well). I played completely solo (even without my stubborn husband who won't leave H&H nor play both). That guy is not helping Salem's case.

A few down on the first page someone has linked that thread. There were a couple of supporters on the first page at least.

Except, that isn't playing solo. In a game where alliances matter, taking the side and befriending one major side is a non-solo form of gameplay. A random raider would not be able to treat you like a true soloer without any political ties.


Edit: That reminds me of that Darworth is a possible candidate for someone that played solo for a pretty long time.

i was greeted by a Mod named Sevenless...who basically told me to ***** off and grow up cuz its your fault not ours. Also stated there is nothign that can be done and to contact paradox via email.

He then said its liek buying a pair of underwear and ***** in them and bringing them back to a store...

Thank god sev is gone so this doesn't keep happening!

Yes Darwoth for sure. I'm confused though. Solo playing in my perspective is someone who plays completely alone with no help from anyone. I don't see why my opinion against a certain alliance on the forums has anything to do with that fact that no one gave me help or supplies ever. I built everything myself. Crafted everything myself. I didn't even have anyone on my buddy list except a trader I traded with once and I added Coles the day before I was raided so that I could trade with him in the future (never got a chance to...lol). Forums have nothing to do with playing solo in my perspective.

Certain solo purists would not consider any trade with any player to be consistent with "solo gameplay" (although they would allow to trade with non-player associated NPCs). Those are the purists though.

However, since you were publically in enough good terms with other people, you obtained extra protection by asserting that if anyone hit you, there is a significant probability that retaliation would come through your positive relations if possible. That extra protection was not gained through solo gameplay.

Doesn't sound like it was gained through any gameplay so that's kind of a given.
