Fun game, but will anyone pay for it?

Postby Berious » Tue Mar 26, 2013 1:37 am

Only started playing a few days ago but I'm having fun crafting and fighting vicious rabbits. But I wonder how will the game make money? The combination of amazing crafting, world shaping and permadeath is pretty unique, I'd like for it to be around a long time. In mind of this I think the cash shop needs some work to be attractive, there's really not much there that's very tempting given the likelihood of losing items and noting the cost of similar stuff in-game. Many FP2 games have some store item that lessens the grind for some fixed period so your biggest fans can subscribe, that'd be a good fit here I think. Nothing too game braking, just a small bonus as a thank you for keeping the lights on.

Anyway hope the game is a big success, I'd heard pretty negative stuff about it but having given it a chance I'm really enjoying myself. Kudos for taking a chance and making something different.

Check out the "Store" link in the menu above. There's several items there not available any other way. There's also several convenience packs and you can purchase silver.

The thing is some of the stuff is only really useful for a new player. But as a new player you probably want to try the game out a bit before investing money into it. When you come to the point where you're ready to invest money - there's nothing in the store that is really interesting. No, the devs need to step it up and figure out what they can sell that would attract customers to return to the store.

I think furniture and art work of different kinds would net some cash.
Btw there is a thread dedicated to this discussion.

If that is what you like you won`t be playing long - which is a phrase of everyone's most like answer here: ...then this game isn`t yours.

I've asked many times for new boxes, since I already have every store-item, I wouldn't mind spending more of my income to this game...

Guess i'll quit the game faster then new boxes will come out :(

Sarcasm?

I mean unless you're referring to redcoat boots for that extra slot and easy difficulty....

The game would do good to have some more store bought items to help new people out or buffs for faster digging or whatever. You can spend 100 dollars for 5000 silver sure, or you can go argopelter hunting for an hour or two for 5000 silver... not exactly well balanced for cash vs time.

i'm actually pretty happy with the current store: most of the packs can help out a lot in very early game to get those important skills fast, while you can perfectly play at your own pace without them.
Although, I think the fact that you get so many easy slots could easily break early-server PvP, but of course this has yet to be tested.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
