Tindys art thread

Greetings Pilgrims!

My name is Tindy and I have been working as an artist on Salem since June 2012. I have been adding new content like clothes, buildings, items, in-game icons, shop icons, interface, tiles and a lot of more stuff. I am also improving some of the old art to make it all look better for your viewing pleasure.

My first big task was to improve the interface. It looked like this when I first started and I think that much have happened since then.

Do you remember?

This is how it looks like today.

And here are some early concept of different looks

I will continue to post art related updates in this thread to share news and listen to your feedback, so feel free to let me know what you think about the visual part of the game.

Take care!

Hi Tindy

I don't know if others here will agree, but a bunch of old HnH mates certainly all agree that the terrain looks terrible. Some areas have been described looking like dull camoflage designs, "like a chemeleon puked on my screen", an old knitted patch blanket etc.

Are you guys considering a revamp of the terrain tilesets at all?

The new dirt / clay is a great improvement! I'm not sure what everyone else is complaining about though. The only terrain type that's an eyesore anymore is that wicked bright green stuff in the Oak Savanna. Oh, and stone quarries. Why is the stuff that's dark grey on the mini-map and on the boulders you dig up bright white on the ground? It's confusing to me. I thought it was Lime for the longest time (until I got quarrying, and they softly wept).

Tindy, I very much like your work it has given character to the game, especially the changes to the UI.

I noticed a lot of inventory items have been repaced with new icons, will this be the same for old objects in the game-world, will they also be updated to conform with Salem's current theme? Ore boulders, bricks (as well as for paving maybe?), stone hedges (trees?) are just a few I think could do with an improvement.

Are there also any plans for a greater variety of character models and customisation such as body weight, height, facial expressions, hair styles and beards? (for both genders, lets not be sexist. I quite enjoy the thought of seeing a witch with a fair beard in the future! ¦] )

I like this one the most. Nice humour meter and clean / simple windows. Although humour colors are messed up, hope it's just a mistake

Nice :D
BY THE WAY, why has the game gone through several graphical updates but we still have the same windmill grinder from alpha?

nice graphics, but I must say I prefer the current one by far (especially the inventory items). I like my UI's to be sharp and pointy, not round and smoochy.
As said above, we do appreciate the work (especially the skinned animals? those were due a long time :D)

So you are the one who trolled everybody by making the humour bars the wrong color?
