I asked this question once in a different thread but wasn't taken seriously. To be fair, it was a bit off topic, so I'm making a thread.

I'm not trying to troll here, so please be serious if you reply.

I'm new to this game. I just got here a few weeks ago and was attracted by the sandbox format and the item based leveling/skills. I'm a big fan of Minecraft, so I thought this game, a crafting MMORPG would be a lot of fun. It has been a lot of fun. But I'm also a little nervous about the PVP aspect. I've never played PVP, but from what I've heard, it can get pretty brutal and anarchic.

So, I was a newbie wandering around Boston... and not knowing what it means to step off the Boston claim, I was pretty easily lured off by Chief and KOed. (He does this a lot, I hear) I was then told I would live if I got on the MM Tribe Vent and say that Totally Moo is Totally Hot. Totally Moo, IS totally hot, I've since seen his picture on the picture thread. So, I got to live. Getting back on topic, I was told about the reservation and the rules, which have been set out now as a clear Treaty. And to be quite honest, I don't see a problem here. Granted, my experience is limited, but given a choice between anarchy with a good chance of being murdered by a random raider, and a political system set up by the players with laws and repercussions for things like murder and theft, I'll gladly pay the tax when I get my own homestead.

My question then, is: Why is everyone so angry with what the MM Tribe is doing? Why is it being called 'against' the intent of the game? What, exactly, is the intent of the game? Is it meant to be an anarchic murder fest?

They aren't doing anything wrong. It is a sandbox MMO and pretty much anything goes.

I absolutely hate roleplaying, and I dislike the MM tribe because they constantly **** on the Native American race in general. They use this indian larping as an excuse to grief the players and the forums. They cause drama, which is good, but after 5 months of the same old **** it gets rather stale.

Many of us just feel the need to resist the yolk that binds us.

I don't relish the idea of being the oxen that pulls some fat indian around all day.

Chief gets banned and weird topic appears on forum, including "TotalyMoo is hot" message...

Yea exacly.

People doesn't like groups that starting to dominate and MM Tribe has dominated Plymouth server.
Imho only killing newbies is bad for game, but there is nothing else wrong with what MM tribe is doing, domination is main goal in this game, so they are doing it right.
Tax is a good thing because newbies got bored quickly, now they got quest "Gather more silver" and most people like quests from other games, yet they do not realize that their few silver coins powerups large faction and helps to destroy other factions, that is most interesting part of treaty

Try to keep calm, everyone. Just because you don't agree with me, doesn't mean I am associated with 'the enemy'. I'm serious that I'm not trying to troll here. I even put it in my original post as it's own paragraph! If what's his name chief got banned earlier, that's a coincidence.

I'd like some clarification on this because I haven't seen any racism. Some roleplaying on the forums, yeah, but why not? It's an historical game, why not make it an 'alternate history' game? Maybe you're referring to the Treaty itself? Try Googling 'Treaty with the Cherokee 1785'. Alternate Historical Accuracy.

I mostly just hate MM Tribe for all the fanbois/retarded "braves"'. The chief can make funny jokes, the rest are funny jokes. Also, all of the braves have the reading comprehension and intelligence of 12 year olds.

A game based on a segment of history as opposed to a fantasy or futuristic setting.
