Craigslist Rant

Am I the only one that thinks craigslist is the most frustrating site to buy **** from?

I have been looking at used cars to replace my current car I've had for 2 years. Every conversation is "Yeah, this car is the ***** best. Im only selling it because *got new car/company gave me a car/moving* and it's a bargain"

Me: "What are the problems so I don't waste my time going there myself and then taking it to a mechanic"

"Really the only problem is it may need new brakes/radiator/tires but other than that it is in perfect condition!"

then I go to see it and it's a piece of ****, OR it seems great and mechanic points out every problem in the world, that I asked for in the first place. Why do people want to waste my time? It's so frustrating

Those usually cost $2-300, not a big deal at all

Not saying it has none, meaning it needs new brake pads

Brake pads are like a hours work. Stupid easy to change.

Craigslist is hit or miss on most ****.

Yeah exactly, no issue for me for stuff like that.

But yeah, for me it has been 100% miss so far

Same problem here in Sweden regarding our local Craigslist, called "Blocket".
It's just people looking for fast cash. I bet half of those car ads you saw were just scamads.

Lmao just got some ******* who asked me why I'm asking so many questions about the car's condition. Then he said I wouldn't be able to take it to a mechanic

if i was selling a car i would not let some little turdbag off of the internet "take it to a mechanic" either so my **** can leave working just fine and return with the catalytic converter sawed off or any of a hundred other things.

anyone who is actually a male knows enough about cars and how to test drive them to detect any major issues 90% of the time to make an educated guess on whether to buy the car or not, virtually every used car ad starts at about 200% of what the seller will actually take for it and how much of that extra half you get to pay is directly related to:

1> showing up in person instead of through an email

2> how much of a clueless retard you seem to be, which is why women will pay far more at a garage than a male will for the exact same service/repair.

3> how convincing you are at your points during counter offering.

the high prices are specifically like that for people like you that exist through an inbox and have no credibility that ask questions about "taking it to a mechanic"

since the object of selling something is to get the most that you can for it listing a car high and getting 40 emails a day from you and your brethren and responding with a "nope, its this much and it stays in the driveway" means for doing almost nothing eventually one of the emails will be someone willing to pay the asking price for it while it sits in the driveway.

that same individual probably would have also been willing to sell it for 30% less to the first guy that showed up at the end of the driveway with money in his pocket that seemed to know his ass from a hole in the ground.

I have only taken one to a mechanic (the person brought it and met me there) after test driving it myself. It seemed fine, and I checked everything I could myself. Once the mechanic lifted it up, he noticed a few things that would cost more than it was worth and also noticed a leak. I did not notice it because it did not leak onto the driveway when I first test drove the car

I only take it to a mechanic after I have done all the tests I can do myself in person.
