I had parked four (scavenged) sturdy sleds on unpaved land in the inner courtyard of my base. When I logged in after a couple of days away I left my house and saw something pink in the middle of the red sled triangles on the minimap that looked exactly like a scent.

my dumbest scare was probably when i got KO'd in prov (i forgot to drink beetle juice) while caring 7k or so in my inventory. i thought i'd drop the coins on the ground

I lose my **** whenever I see an animal appear briefly at the edge of the screen unexpectedly. I've got a lot of legacy haven paranoia left over.

Mine: wouldn't be the first time I get surprised by one of my own characters I have one colour for all characters that are mine, but I'm not always 100% with settings those colours on every char

Whenever playing with sound and mining in one of my clients, and a cave-down appears, I **** bricks.

Most recently was when I started playing again, mannequins were new and I built 7-8 of them without realizing they leave a payer marker on the mini map. Next day I log in to the same room and my mini loaded before my screen, I thought I was going to get gang beaten and killed for a sec.. And for a bonus story, in the first few days of my VQ I had just come back to the reservation after hunting, just as I closed the inside gate I see someone in an admirals jacket and headdress rushing up behind me. My first thought was "****! tribe!" then I realized where I was and what I was doing. Ended up being Brona

It was a long time that I haven't played salem, after the beta closed and my base got raided I stopped playing because my friend stopped playing aswell, and now I remembered this awesome game and started playing again, there were tons of new stuff and everything was new to me again, I had about 40 of all humours on my main character and found a huge abandoned city, I thought to myself "Oh wow, so much free loot should be left there" then I noticed on my map 3 players not moving, I was standing and waiting for them to do something, but they did nothing, and they were naked in the city, then I talked to my friend who came in my room for like 10seconds and I looked in the minimap and they moved, I shat my bricks and run as much as I could, then after 2 weeks I got the courage to come to the city again and I noticed that those players were again in the same spot, I was still scared of them and moved around them untill I realised they were just mannequins

Does this have to be Salem scares?

1. Once on a F2P awesome Steam game called Unturned a zimbie snuck up on me and nearly gave me a heart attack. I mean they're cartoonish and adorable, yet he still managed to scare me...

2. On Hafen i play at 1 FPS, so when a bear walked up my lag was so bad i couldn't escape. I thought i was dead, then he just walked up like, "hey, what up bruh?" then walked off.

Mine had to be when I was a noob. I left my character logged in at my place (didn't have claimstone yet), as I went to get a quick snack IRL. When I came back like two minutes later, the screen said someone wanted to be my kin. Apparently, he was also a noob who had stolen from my unclaimed area the other day, and didn't realize someone still lived there. Pretty good timing to find me afk for that quick snack break

My biggest scare ever had to be when I was when I was beaver hunting about 3 minutes away from my base, and saw a player on the minimap nearby. I never saw a player near me before so I ran back to base, hauling ass. Then I logged on a 20 bile alt and went back to check it out, and as I walked up to the marking on the minimap, the player came into view - he was dead, body still cold. I believe this was before madness so I chalked it up to disease, as I don't remember seeing a scalp or scents. Still, this was a funny and scary experience at the same time. I put a sign down saying "RIP Swag Jenkins" or something for him.
