Roleplay in Salem?!?

I like roleplay.
My different Toons have all different Stories.
And sometimes i see people who play their roles very well.
But most i see people who just play as an player and say things in area chat what the real human in 2016 would say.
How you think about?
It is possible to play a good roleplay in Salem?
Means, always be in role and act like a guy in 16th century?
How you can imagine a nice roleplay in Salem?
My part of roleplay is a view to the time where our toons acting.
Between Exploration sense and settling sense.
Between deep christian view and native nature leading.
Using your possibilities and wild wild west.
And because we get fables and legends for real in Salem, the acting with them too.
Scarying people, cultivating friendsships and backstabbing people is even a part that you can perfectly build in a roleplay.
And then could there be long time plots (even if i'm not a friend of them, because they need much time) like politican acting over long time or playing out a head hunting plot and so on.
I would be happy if there are other outside who like to play in role wherever they are.
This means also, that you can be enemy or friend or bad or good, but can talk with other player in PM/Chat in a normal way.
Means, no hate between player, even if the toons are hateful together.
There are other people here, who see it in a same way?
Or is it an impossible wish to find a combination of playing this game, playing a role and beeing a real person in non public chats?
