im trying to get walls right up next to a brick house... it is working on the north, east and south side... but not the west... is there some thing i have to do... or this just an other hitbox failer.....
edit:
just tried working on an other and having the same issue... but north this time... but both problems are to the right of the door. >.>

By 'west' what do you mean? Front? Back? Side?

seems to be the right side of the brick house... just tried working on one of the other houses. :'(

Don't know, you'll have to post a screenshot. With a grid would be nice.

any one have any idea what i could do to fix this issue?
can i move part of the fence over a slit bit and still place the gate for instance?

What do you mean by slit bit, if you can't build the fence you will have to move it by at least a square because you failed to place the house properly, i usually build a makeshift fence if i want to pull up something risky like that.

i didn't fail to do any thing...
and by pressing "SHIFT" and moving the fence over 1 tick inside of the space i can place the wall.... so im wondering if i can build a wall 1 tick over and still place a gate... ill have to bash down 3 sections of plank wall tho. :'(

I've only ever built fences snapped to grid and rotated to a regular 90 degree interval. As a result I've never had trouble building a gate.
I suggest to test your theory with a makeshift fence somewhere else first. If you need to leave .01 - .99 of a grid space between your house and fence, is that the end of the world?
Presumably if you started a fence off-grid and only extended it, you could wrap it around to meet up with itself and place a gate, then go back and bash a hole to put in the other gate. Anyone ever done this? Might be able to make interesting choke-points within your town's walls.

yah, some one in one of my villages had to do some thing like that because she didn't know about snapping to the grid.
the problem is that i have already measured and laid down a ton of stuff.... i have walls on the other 3 sides of the brick house and i have 3 other brick houses in this area that would need moved... and the whole west and north walls i have already laid down would have to be smashed down and placed this .01 off set in the square they are already in.
meow just confirmed that a gate must be placed between 2 posts exactly 2 squares apart.
i personally think that a small tweak to the hitbox on the right side of brick houses would save me and future people a lot of headach... i would be willing to wait till next patch for this... im sure moving just the right side of the hitbox in .01 wouldn't be too much effort.
