The left hand's got little love, the only uses for the left hand anywhere that I can think of, would be either with a slingshot or a pistol. Other uses include two handed items, like the musket or woo-woo wand. Otherwise, no uses whatsooever. You can hold a sword on the left hand slot, but can't use it. No other tools can be used with the left hand. Torches have their use, but I don't see prolonged use of it, to justify keeping it in your hand and not put it into your inventory. Hell, you'll lose the hand if somebody has Eye for an Eye, but when has anybody been ever spared with a missing hand?

Witches are known to be mostly left-handed. Look out.
