89 still leads the martket after hp lost it badly. And it's been a decade old. I hate when things like that happen.

It's amazing with all the smartphones around and Apple practically giving away iPads to schools that people still have to buy these things. then again, you can't take an iPad or notebook into a certified test like an SAT, ACT, etc.

The pen and paper is the only real way to make hard copy backup's..

Too much faith is put into eletronic devices now days.

Writing is a form of art which we as a whole culture we are slowly loosing the ability to use it.

Ok, lets not try to be smart with such a retarded answer, because basic paper in the right conditions can last tens of thousands of years, Let alone speical paper.

At least paper does not break if you drop it from any heigth, would love to see any eletronic device survive a 100ft drop.

Paper wins every time.

EDIT: Whats that ? a nuke just dropped 100 miles away ? No problem, my phone.... Oh wait the EM field from the nuke has killed all eletronics, at least we got a pen and paper to record the days events.

you try to grade exams written by people that have shunned handwriting whenever possible for the last couple of years of their lives. I guarantee you'll share his opinion :)
I agree that too few people are still used to writing on pen and paper. I still think it is by far preferable for the most important part of a programmer's job - dumb programming can only follow after smart design!

Paper can survive a drop, which is nearly impossible for it to happen to - yay paper! But on the other hand it goes "poof!" from water, fire, light and old age
In right condition modern electronic data storage devices can live much longer than any piece of paper, but they don't have to, because it takes less than a second to make a back up or device upgrade copy of a book, which would take days for pen and paper.
And hand wrighting as an art lives and blooms, can confirm as one of millions of owners of graphic tablets.

You are forced to be careful with eletronic data storages, almost ALL are also comprimised / destroyed by simply holding a magnet next to them, or dropping them in water, or exposing them to fire.

Just laminate that paper baby. Not to mention EMP's etc, or power shortages etc.

You forget one advantage of paper to electronic devices. Technological advancement. With progress you need to keep a way to read your records. After all who still has a VHS player? On the other hand as long as you can read you can read a piece of paper providing we don't invent a completely new alphabet or reinvent our language drastically in the next centuries or so.
