are you saying that our country of 300 million residents has a higher crime rate than your country (which, by the way i sincerely doubt) and that we should all agree to be killed like sheep when an angry muslim shows up instead?

have to say i disagree!

Homicide rate per year per 100,000 inhabitants in various countries
France:1.31
US:5.00

That's per 1 million actually I believe.

you will point to your small mostly homogenous country

I don't know what you're talking about. France has one of the most diverse race demographics of any country in Europe. They're only about 80% White, non-muslim now.

Clearly you've never been to Houston. Texas is one of the most polluted states in the country with many industrial cities that go boom and bust. It's not quite like Detroit's spiraling despair but it's pretty bad in a lot of ways. Dallas is just malls and skyscrapers with zero reason to go there.

I am lying here at the Texas medical center, one of the best in the world. I don't think you quite understand why people move here more and more every year.
also, have anyone told you about the wild wild west? There is a million way to die here. Comparing this land to the beacon of light is just off the chart.

JohnCarver wrote:best place to start, best model to replicate, or best template to copy. Which is quite clearly America. However, I can understand the 'fad' for the emo kids(countries) to gather up in the shaded corner of the school campus smoking their cigarettes and pretending the Quarterback, Class President, Prom King, and Valedictorian's life isn't as cool as it constantly seems it is.

And what do you base America being the best on? We're poorer per Capita by median wealth for adults than about 22 countries. France is 4th on that list. We're more violent then almost all of the Industrialized world, including Argentina. We have a much worse rate of upward mobility than almost all of Europe now. We're way behind France. We have the largest prison population per capita by far. Our democractic system is dominated by money and has the least amount of turnover of incumbency of any democratic industrialized country. Our democratic system is at a complete standstill and even at the local level we have more corruption and problems than France and the rest of Western Europe. Entrepreneurship is basically at a standstill in America compared to Europe. We're even starting to lose the Race when it comes to patents and invention because of corporate cementation of patent rights and corporate patent infringement lawsuits.

Soooo... Why exactly do you think America is the best place to start?

There are many more relatively diverse countries like France (20% minority), Canada (16% minority) and Australia to base a government that's able to deal with minority rights and issues. There are much more stable countries economically than us that aren't dominated by corporate stagnation and wealth control of governance at all levels.

Sooo... Why do you think we're better when every stat says we're not anymore?

We do have the biggest military, is that what you mean?

I'd say we're not the prom king or queen or any of the popular kids at all. We're the guy who decides to go into the Army to save up for college but then never goes back to school and ends up working the rest of his life in a chemical plant outside Houston and arming himself against imaginary threats he learned about on FOX news.

Say, since when do we need to be better than every one else? Can we just try to make our home a home?

Yes we can, and Darwoth can buy and hoard as many guns as he wants in his home, even if it does make us all less safe.

Personally, I view gun idiots like Dallane and Darwoth like anti-vaccination moms. The mom's think it's better if they don't have to make society safer by vaccinating their kids. Darwoth and Dallane think that more guns make society and their households safer. They can't believe the simple science that more vaccinated kids (or in Darwoth and Dallane's case: less gun owners) will make the world safer for everyone.

Honestly Texas is by far one of the least discriminatory places that I have ever been. At least in San Antonio and Austin. Not sure about up north.
