Not 24/7 but I do have a lot of spare time. I would like to relocate but I haven't found a good area yet - not to mention having put in a lot of effort in my humble camp.

Sometimes it's better to just set out wandering randomly rather than run into the wrong person. Keep a couple of hay on you for when you decide it's time to log out or make a trip to Boston so you can build a lean-to in the woods.
I am a moderator. I moderate stuff. When I do, I write in this color.

I have 2 explorers now. If any of them find a better, more remote area, I'll definitely consider packing up and leave. I just need a sled...

some times its better to not use sleds or relocate alot of stuff (bank alt the majority really as its easier to alt trade in boston) given that alot of areas are nasty hills you spend more time digging ramps for sled use then you would actually finding a new place lol plus sleds slow you down alot... making it easier to ambush you or get jumped by bears :/

Thanks for the heads-up. Very appreciated.
On topic: politeness in game is rubbish. Just saying.

not a problem, sleds move slower then normal walking speed and bears move at player running speed or something.. so dragging a sled means a 30minute run/hike trip would be like 2hrs++ if its full of cliffs you have to dig lol
as for politeness.. i wouldnt say its rubbish, as being friendly and polite to people can go along way with trading or having people sit and chat around your area about stuff. if you arent polite they wont bother to warn you about bears or hostile players, or even provide help to questions you may have.
while its entirely up to the player to decide if they want to be a prick or saint to someone in game, i wouldnt dismiss the benefit of being social-able at least.

I should elaborate. My experience of the online multiplayer game world is that unless you treat others with silk gloves and/or donate material to them for no other reason than to be nice (without sucking up), you can expect basically any kind of treatment. And if you happen to play the game (any game) in a way that differs from the norm you're either an idiot, a moron or sometimes both.
I am for the most part nice to people, but I have learned that it most often doesn't mean anything in the long run. When it comes to Salem, I think it's all about luck. In the case of the OP, I think that if a person has decided to raid a camp/village before they even speak to you it doesn't matter what happens next. They will go ahead with it.
And I'm sorry if I sound on edge. I didn't get much sleep last night. Nothing personal towards anyone.
