If you're going to bot, why even bother playing? GTFO.

Yeah, Salem is a mmo about professionals. And more efficient you are the more professional you are ... and bots are top efficient at doing boring repeatetive stuff like gathering and flattering terrain.
Also in the end game begin to fall in to gank-style pvp gameplay where strong eats weak (we have permadeath hur-hur). So to be strong(read alive ) and professional you must use bots. The question is how many people would "play" this game ?
I dont know is it about people playing or game itself but at some point efficiency became >>> then anything else.
PS: same happened to eve-online on big scale btw (plus rmt trading). Probably we could use more creativity in gameplay (like SWG, Ryzom, Shores of Hazeron, DF itc) and less repeating. Either it needs to be a game like Notch's http://0x10c.com/ where botting (simple programming) is a part of the game.

anybody who asked me about this game, I told them it's bot friendly and they never asked again. This game mechanic being so unforgiving, the alts botters is going to be so much more powerful than any legitimate users. Can just easily kill underpowered playesr and there goes all the work. Botters don't mind death since he got plenty of replacement. But for a regular player like me, that's all the work. You say all mmo have bots, you are wrong, League of Legend has no hack nor bots. It's the most popular game right now with more players than World of Warcraft. Good thing I only dropped 10 dollars on this game, better save it for something else.

ok moba, it's still multi-players online, but it doesn't have any cheating, and it's down to fair player and player skill that determine the match. In terms of playerbase it's more "massive" than any other games on this planet.

Who cares how many people play it, it's only 10 at a time in each game session which only last for like an hour. How is botting even applicable to that?

Your analogy is bad.

Some people seem to labor under the misconception that we can somehow effectively police bots. We can't. We instead try to build the game so as to make it unfriendly for bots, and generally consider botting a sign of a sub-optimal game mechanic more than anything else.
