That's enough now. Latin and Classic Greek are no longer allowed without translation because I don't speak them fluently. Jorb and Loftar don't get in trouble for it because they still own the forums at this time.

I'd be inclined to allow them special privilege to continue speaking Latin or Classic Greek if they like as I doubt they will abuse it, but I'm getting the feeling the rest of you won't be able to handle that idea without rioting in the streets.

Still, you banned one person for doing the same thing as another to which you did nothing, not to mention the others now as well. Length of ban aside, it is a double standard.

I had already warned Claeyt earlier in the evening for racism, no one else here has been breaking any rules lately. If you really have an objection to that, please go to the complaints thread or PM me.

You've already been warned once tonight, Claeyt, for inappropriate material. User banned one day for lack of English translation.

Kaios wrote:What? My "stfu" was in regards to the clear double standard that was just displayed. If Claeyt hadn't been warned already, it would have just been a warning rather than a ban. But Jorb is allowed without repercussion because why exactly? His ***** taste too damn good?

Yasso wrote:Kindly ***** you and your double standards.

To be quite fair, though, Jorb's quote is idiomatic enough that you should know even if you don't know Latin. "Vox populi, vox Dei" is a common enough phrase that complaining about it being Latin is akin to complaining that "idiomatic" is Latin. Do you want to ban people from saying "carpe diem" as well? "Per se"? "Vice versa"?

I wouldn't ban anyone for it, of course, but the same cannot be said for Claeyt's post.

Of course, if you want to revert to pre-Norman-invasion Anglo-Saxon to get rid of all that horrible Latin influence, I would be fine with that. ^^

What no request to ban me?

I feel slighted.

Of course the rules are applied selectively. Did you expect the moderators to apply computerized rules mechanically? That's not the purpose of having moderators. It's not even about having double standards; rather, the rules are an imperfect mirror of the actual underlying principles applied to make discussions civil.

I take it that your understanding of what rules are and how they should be applied is on par with your game developing skills. What reminds me that pulling the plug on this game was Paradox` best decision in 2013.
