If you lock your gates then no one will be getting in unless the town is under siege.

I really look forward to seeing your new vids.

Very well said GamerZakh. The amount of thought you put into your videos amazes me :) You must have been planning for ages before you started the intro video. I fully agree with you about the way you make videos, also how you consider the best way to represent Salem to the consumers. You're the best man.
Try to stay alive as long as possible! Best wish for you.

I like how there are arguments about how I'm making videos when all I've released is the announcement that I'm coming back XD

1. Episode 1 isn't even out yet
2. The first few episodes are going to be recapping the basics—getting started; skills; gluttony—as the old ones covering that are very outdated
3. There will be a video about the different types of playstyles—village, group, hermit, etc.—and their pros and cons, but I can't tell people who just joined the game to ask to join a village before they even know how to kill a cricket
4. I made it clear that I joined a village for protection in the video, but I also mentioned that I hadn't claimed the land so I'm not that protected (which is what hermits would need to do), however the video wasn't about safety anyway

5. As I make videos, my situation already can't 100% represent the 'normal' player experience. A normal player wouldn't be hunted by dozens of people for the specific cause of recording the death of a YouTuber (hunted back in 2012, I expect it'll happen again). That's why I wear the feather circlet thing in the video that JC gave me, so hunters don't mistakenly kill people dressed like me (back in the day, I kept my outfit specifically low level with pilgrim robes and maple mask). The purpose of the videos will vary, but when I'm talking about gluttony I don't need to talk about claim safety. If you want a single video to cover all the points it's going to be many hours long and it would take ages to plan and edit to be consumable media. Also, it wouldn't be financially viable. I needed a base to make videos from that wouldn't be destroyed. As there is no winstate in Salem, the process of playing the game is the point of the game for a 'normal' player, so death and base destruction is horrible, but ultimately part of the experience. However, if I get killed or my base gets destroyed, it would mean I can't make the next video. It would take weeks to get back to where I was (because I don't spend a lot of time gaming as I spend it making videos), where I could end up getting raided again. Unless, of course, I 'cheat' even more and just ask people to boost me, which I'm not doing at all now. This is why in the old series I didn't get to higher levels of skills (plus the hunters were getting more rampant). Salem isn't the only thing I do. I make various other series on my channel and I'm still a full-time high school teacher. If you want coherent Salem videos for these few months, this is the best way I can do it.

"He is acting like he is playing solo."
I am playing solo besides being under a town claim and someone gave me 3 lilypad bulbs yesterday.

"However he is giving a false idea of safety."
In the coming videos, I mention repeatedly that people can kill you, your leanto can be destroyed, and thanks to the 50 plague alts in town yesterday I pointed out how dangerous disease is, and these videos aren't even talking about protecting yourself yet.

Also, Welcome back to the Forum flame wars GamerZakh. I don't give a crap how you play the game as long as you're helping us grow this game with your awesome videos. I've told Aavak and some of the other streamers to join or create a town if they want to stream since it's so much safer now.

Who cares if it seems too safe for noobs as long as he gives them fair warning that he's under town protection so they understand how the village system and game mechanic works.

If you need anything PM me.

I actually think it's great that he's doing his videos from the protection of a town claim extension. It's a town configuration I'd like to see become popular, though securing such a town from infiltrating 'fake' hermits might take some doing. As long as he eventually does a segment on claim security and the necessity of personal claims, I don't see it leading anyone astray.

I agree, I even think a devs run village for youtubers to take shelter is also good. You get to play the game you're working on to "feel" it, they get protection.
Everyone else get pissed off. Perfect!

I'd also say it's pointless for the devs to get involved at all. Anyone can start a village with a newb expansion that accepts new players while still keeping them out of the inner city. Temporary village protection on lease for newcomers who only want an indestructible wall to protect them for a while until they stake their own claim in the world. Or does such a place already exist?

The way he move the camera angle is good, the contents are almost sufficient, the FPS is making me jelly, damn.
