Okay Tindy, I have a challenge for you.
At the moment my lovely town house looks like a shed inside.
Its dark, gloomy, and I have no nice furniture and fittings to go in it.

Give me stuff!
Give me carpets, windows, more pictures, more furniture, I dont care if they dont do anything other than pretty the place up! This is where 'I' live.
When you get to a certain stage in the game, theres nothing to spend money on.
I WANT PRETTIES!!
Is terminally confused and her head hurts

Love the way the map is portrayed.

Hope it will be that nice and clean some day :).

I enjoy seeing your WIP's, Tindy. I have been trying to figure out how to mod the graphics as an artist myself simply because I think it would be fun but have had no luck yet. Someday, maybe.

Meanwhile, I think the most drastic improvements to Salem's graphics could be made with lighting changes. You can have the most awesome textures or 3d models in the world but when the lighting is bland it's going to bring everything else down. Right now the lighting is as basic as possible... black shadows and some slightly yellowish light. And I don't mean the cast shadows, I mean the shaded sides of things are flat black. A little tint of blue or indigo would liven them up. I think it's interesting that the style of the game is quite cartoony but the colors are rather bleak because of the lighting. If we could get some point light sources from stationary torches or lampposts that would go a long way in creating some ambiance, as well, but I realize that's one of those "nice things" that we can't have.

Could you mock up a screenshot with decreased saturation on the forest ground texture? I think it'd look a lot better this way.

Hello again!

I'm so glad to see all your responses! I have read every post here and I'll keep them i mind for the future.

Lately I've worked on existing buildings and tiles, as you may have noticed. I've added more details to the roofs to match the camera angle and increased the pattern size in walls and roofs.

A bit different than this old picture I found with some old house and old mud texture.

Here is a new mud tile. I hope it will work.

And an other tile for clay. Smooth and creamy!

The mud tile feels pretty HD compared to some of the other things around it. Looks a little odd in comparison but it will be all for the better once the other things get updates as well :)

Nobutrly. Sky tiles please.

I really like the new mud tiles, also the new Church, so much prettier than the old one.

I do wonder why the brick house got turned pinkish? Maybe it's just me, but I think the best looking brick is the dark brick red color.

And the update in detail for the smaller townhouse is nice, but why is it a weathered wood grey color? If I was rich enough to have a house with real glass windows instead of oiled paper, I'd be whitewashing that house regularly.

Have you ever considered toning down the autumnal floors a bit? Well, the red areas look kind of cool especially when one is deep in the darkness with a torch on but the yellow parts are just... well, I live in a yellow autumnal forest. I wish it were either the red leaves or that the yellow was toned down a lot and brought closer to the red ones. I'll be perfectly honest--the yellow hurts my eyes.

Top = Original; Bottom = quick 'n' dirty Photoshop adjustment

On a side note, what's up with this line on the church? I figured it'd be fixed in the next patch but it wasn't. Surely I'm not the only one who notices this.
