honestly though this mule/alt debate is pointless and never EVER going to reach an acceptable location. everygame from muds of the 80s to stupid WoW suffers from multi accounts be it a gold spamer/farmer or some one like the dude in vanilla wow who ran 10 accounts at once for a solo 10 man raid (poop in socks anyone?)

frankly sea tribe will never beable to accurately prevent alt accounts. even with subscription, people in second life or EVE have multi accounts and thats sub. :/

just let it go people. game is to game what pizza is to pie.

enjoy it dont make it so stressful

besides people who alt bank suffer worse then non-alters. while they might store important items. they wind up losing track what they alt banked so wind up spending more time having to retool their alt storage then actually making use of it LOL

I agree with that alt accounts will never be removed, but alt storage can indeed be removed. A crude implementation is to let everything except equipped tools and clothes be dropped on the floor after being offline for X minutes. However, that would create a certain inconvenience for certain people, so the physical game-world storage methods need to improve to offset the incovenience (i.e. it should be easy to create a container to put stuff in when you logout; maybe even digging your stuff underground).

The idea of having no physical storage when you log out would have to be offset with a fairly long duration, in my opinion. Give people a chance to sleep at night without having to worry about everything being gone because they had to leave abruptly and couldn't afford to get back to somewhere safe to deposit their things. Perhaps a solid 24-48 hour period before possessions are lost.

And then what about those of us that only log in and play a few times a week? There's some weeks that go by that I might log in only once just to make sure I don't have to rebuild my lean-to (hard to get hay with no grassland within an hour walk and no farms yet because of whatever reason I choose).

12 hours would be enough I guess. It is long enough to prevent anyone but the most dedicated to constantly keep storing items on their alts and it would definitely not be worth it for items that take less than 30 minutes to acquire.

About everything being gone: they already leap the risk of their base being gone if they don't have a town bell. So it wouldn't be a longshot to expect people to have a little foresight about they are willing to lose in case they have to abruptly end their game session.

Point being that either storage vaults should be openly endorsed by the devs (in which case they should be made more streamlined) or they should be shunned and thus made as incovenient as possible. The current way is not satisfactory in my opinion.

You can keep the items at containers in your base. Although I could imagine that for those who just want to explore, they would be implement some form of "bury your stuff under ground" mechanic so that it would be hard but possible for anyone that didn't see where you dug down your items to retrieve them.

Trunks in woods are even good solution for save spot, only problem is to remember where you left stuff. Ofc leaving such stuff near base is bigger risk, but in middle of nowhere give bigger chance to be there where you left this. I dont know if this disapear, for test I had put one item inside such container. Two days pass and its still there. :X

Second Life isn't even a game, nor does it have a subscription, and in EVE if you have enough money you can buy gametime from other players, and if you don't you can spend $20 and sell gametime for money, also CCP encourage multiple accounts and you can only train skills on one character per account so alts are harder to use without more accounts

Some guy did a beautiful things though, he multiboxed 100 accounts at once and mined all of the thing in space, TheWiz I a maniac
