When you catch trash fish (**** shiners, Blue Gills, etc.) keep them and take them home
-Cut fish open along belly
- Put seed in side of fishes chest
- bury fish
-???
- Profit

It provides a natural fertilizer and it cause's a great return on investment. Stole this from a book called The Frontiersmen when they were talking about how Native Americans planted corn. Tried it in my herb garden and i have never looked back works amazingly well.

Really? This needs to be tested. All I have access to is trout and char. Can I use this approach to all seeds, or just larger ones like peas?

Edit: Hmm.. Wont this make the garden stink like crap? (Or rotting fish?)

any fish works i just use trash fish because they don't have a size limit and you are supposed to kill them anyways another great option in the midwest is silver carp, and YES it will smell kinda bad for a few days. it will work with just about any seed because it provides water and nutrients, and to the name **** shiners i honestly don't remember their real name that is just what we call them.

I think my wife (and neighbours) will object to using fish as fertilizer. Its an interesting idea. Why dont you do a trial where you use fish for some seeds and usual fertilizer for others with same conditions otherwise? (If you have the possibility to do so.) Have you tried to compost fish?

I know the fish you refer to. You talking about the bait fish that the bass love that are known to swarm the surface in the middle of a lake? The ones that are horrendous smelling more than a few minutes out of the water?

The kepa onion which I sowed today.

Spinach

Brassica napus

Daucus carota

Also I intend to sow, peas (Pisum sativum), lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and "Wild ruccola" "Diplotaxis tenufolia".

Some of the plants will be on my might field and some in pots.
