There's a lot of things I hate about mainstream gaming, but keeping a community at least somewhat tolerable, or at the very least not taking sides in the drama, is just common sense. Most people will not tolerate a toxic community, even if its toxicity is just a very convincing 'just in good fun' illusion (which, coincidentally enough, is something assholes always seem to say when they're caught ***** on people), and they will definitely not tolerate devs getting right down to the level of its trolls. No point in arguing this, though. I think you're either insane or very apathetic, and you probably think I'm an idiot, and a fourth of the community seems to enjoy this dumbassery despite the fact it's screwing over a fairly fun game. Seriously, the game's 200x more enjoyable when you don't get yourself involved with forum crap, but it needs a decent amount of players to go above and beyond most games (such on the first days of the expedition before half the newbies and returning players realized: hey, there's a lot of assholes in this community). Unfortunately, since the game is closely linked to the forums and the forums suck, well, it pretty much ***** itself there.
The funny thing is: something tells me that even when the new player flow stops and the game returns to its pre-launch levels in population, those clinging to the sinking ship will probably still try to justify that the toxic waste stored on it couldn't possibly have burned any holes.
TLDR: Even the best games have an Achilles heel.
man you are being ridiculous, do you really believe that the developers trolling a kin alt of claeyt over the years and people like me and alloin calling each other retards is "toxic and killing the game?" as someone who has played most games worth playing i can say that is exactly what is missing in most of them. what other games have you played in the past?
there will always have a relatively "low" population here (although the server pop is higher than most single server pops in other games i have played, so whatever

) due to the game itself and the age/climate it finds itself in, everyone now is a whiney wet diaper like yourself so a cut throat permadeath game that does not have a line of 30 npcs with gold question marks above their head to walk you through character development is an anachronism that will never be the next runescape
salem is a small game intended to cater to those of us player types that have been seeking exactly the type of things your ***** about, that is why many of us have been here for three years even when the servers had 20 people on them, if you do not like the dynamic of the community, the interaction of the staff with the players or the "toxicity" of forum warrioring then just kick rocks and go find a shoulder to cry on at blizzcon. for what its worth i am pretty sure profitability is a distant concern when compared to whether the game is something the owners of it want to play or not.
