I once heard that a good way to keep ants out of your house in the summers is to line all of the openings (doors, windows, etc) with baking soda but I'm not sure how well it works

If you can see where they are entering (they are following a chemical trail) you are in luck. I usually scrub the area with dish soap-*poof* no trail. Of course this assumes you've gotten rid of the food source.

Also if your pet's food is what is attracting them, snag a cake/baking pan and fill it about 1/4 " deep with water. Place food bowl sitting/resting inside the pan. This keeps the ants from the pet food.

I can see my cat dumping the food and himself everytime.

My dog would eat his food or throw the bowl to drink/flip the water. Works good if ur dog isn't a assbole
