Even if you didnt stand around. Youd do timber piles, Building fences, making pavement. Youd end up the same.

Might i add that a few patches ago there was a huge discussion about how MM wanted to make the game more community based with roles for player characters like a cook, woodworker, miner and such things.

I pity anyone who aint a Cook, Inspiration maker, Pottery Person in charge of veggies(usually the cook anyhow), or god forbid a fisherman stupid enough to fish.

Neither I nor any of my Village mates have gained a single level in madness. Have you?
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Not really the point. I have not done any of the calming crap either. Means that if id actually play now id probably have gained a madness level.

I am waiting on a few patches to get this flawed mechanic in check before spending any more time on it.

Right now the insanity system adds more annoyance than pleasure. Also it seems to add a lot of extra difficulty to newbies, while well equipped/skilled characters just need to play their instrument respectively grow some tobacco. Crafting unneeded stuff just to lower insanity is not fun. Also fishing in Salem is not interesting (neither is it relaxing). It definately adds some extra chores, contrary as mentioned in the original post. But i'm curious how it develops and so far Salem is a good game. I'm confident.

Milk is intended to be the hydration method for reducing insanity.

Maybe there's going to be other mechanics to reduce insanity, let's wait and see ;)

Once again there is already a thread for you to cry about insanity. Public opinion isn't going to change john's mind unless you prove this isn't going to work and provide a way to change or fix this "issue".
