nothing like necro threading,
however my opinion has not changed. still against it, the servers are barely using 10% of their maximum.

Quoting this. It would be useless otherwise. If they have to rework the foundations of the game - like purity, to be clear - let's do so, test and balance it. But then make a new server, a clean slate without relics of an overpowered past (and i'm not referring to titans alone - seeds, humus, worms and such are even worse)

nfc what Claeyt is saying, but it's probably about Dallane bashing the game or something....seriously, you have your very own thread now.

edit: To avoid confusion, I would like to mention this was a reply to a post that no longer exists in this thread. Not my fault the colesie is a ****** garbage man.

Clayet isn't even in this tread.

There's no reason to start a new server now, not until we get a substantial update. And even then, we won't need one, a revamp to mechanics to make the game more fun, playable, and long lasting, will increase the population on it's own.

I'm in the thread earlier, but the one that Stax quoted is no longer there. Colesie did a massive rethread job of many of OUR derails which can be found here. http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6937

To stay on topic, I do not mind a new server, but the population couldn't handle it and with Paradox now charging for server bandwidth it would cost Seatribe too much without wiping the other server's.

Paradox is charging them for server?

Well Paradox hasn't really talked about they're deal with the Dev's and vice versa, but my guess is that Paradox keeps any Cash store money to cover any server expenses then split any profits with Seatribe somehow. Who knows tho.

......but a 4th server of course would cost more in bandwidth to run. Again, I've stated before, I'm sure Paradox has some sort of mass bandwidth bulk deal of some sort, most game publishers get pretty good discounts for server bandwidth, so it's probably cheaper to run their servers than we think.

I do support a 4th server. I think it might actually help the game to grow and attract some people back who like a fresh new world, as long as they keep the other 3 servers active for all the die hards who have stuck with it.

My thoughts on the matter are as follows:

#1: Create new server to inject new life into the game (once updates are finished and a commitment to development schedule is made).

#2: Promise to open up server transfers in (4) months from creation of new server

This will give people the opportunity to build without having to worry about pre-existing factions. This will give pre-existing factions the motivation to "stick with it" knowing that they will still have access to a new player base in four months and, therefore, do not have to abandon their homes and/or feel forced to play the new server.

As for the existing (3) servers and their load. It wouldn't be that hard to "hand stitch" tiles to the southern end of Plymouth that would match the northern border of Roanoke. Merge the maps together, port all the characters/map data onto one server which would now handle double the load (still insignificant). Implement boats with sails that travel 200% speed of Canoes, Implement horses @ approx 50% speed increase from what we saw in the live-stream. Bigger map, more people, more accessible due to technology improvements for speed. The same can be done with Jamestown using the Northern border of Jamestown and the southern border of Roanoke.

Each time there is a need for a "new" server and/or populations dwindle they could just keep "Stitching" the coast together and merging the smaller player-bases together.

I believe that this would satisfy both the die-hards and the player base that enjoys re-rolling.

It's an interesting idea but probably would be too much for one server when/if the player pop did grow. There's probably server problems for it also, size wise right now.

as for Jamestown in the middle, they could just create some new map space north and south of it's borders to have it match the 2 severs on either end of it, map wise.

I think a better solution would be to just have the boats and when you sailed to the boarder you got an option to move to the other server, it would then transfer everything in the boat, characters, stuff, etc... to the new server.
