Not that I can speak for the Chief, but aren't you promoting another developer's game on this game's community forum with the express intent of gathering interest in Topia Online which can only be motivated by wanting to gather players from this game to Topia? And although you are yourself a member of the community, the creators of Topia Online are not, and thus this community owes them nothing except maybe the well wishes for an indy developer.

As it is, Salem not only has a relatively small niche community. The FTP model will likely increase our numbers upon release, but not by much. The game itself is obviously not built for the standards of other MMOs and is intended to remain small in numbers. To detract from this core base (beta testers) is, in my opinion, far more destructive than the Chief smearing the developers of ANOTHER GAME on this game's forums. It's not like he proactively entered there forums before they/you began posting here. There are other ways to gather interest than to directly leach off of another game's following.

#1 this thread was made with the express permission of both the Salem Moderators and the Community Manager. In the same way that I've made this thread to enlighten my fellow sandbox gamers to a new and interesting game, I've also made threads on OTHER sites about both Salem and Haven and Hearth, it's not some form of Industrial Theft as you seem to be eluding to. Rest assured that BOTH games are niche and Salem is much more likely to be released before Topia Online thereby having quite the edge to gathering sandbox gamers but let's not forget, nothing precludes people from playing both so your assertion is tits.

#2 Jwhitehorn knows that he's walking a very fine line after his last ban (For trolling a Dev of Topia in this thread) and is now using the underhanded tactic of getting the 12 year olds from his "Tribe" to do it for him, it has nothing to do with Topia Online and everything to do with run ins he and I have had on these forums. he would be wise to find something else to do with his time.

You must be new around here, a large % of Salem beta -testers are old Haven and hearth players and will also be Topia Beta testers, none of this is detracting from any of the three games. Basically? Know what you're talking about before you write your giant wall of text.

There are a variety of other lines I could ask you to read between, so there's no need to make assumptions such as an accusation of Industrial Theft. The game is definitely original and has the potential to thrive on the creative notion of the scripting system etc, however, I'm simply justifying the position that has been made that posting in a forum of another game that is still in beta is in bad taste. Whether or not it was allowed is moot. Whether or not the Chief is continuing to cause trolling in the forum of Topia is neither here nor there. If he feels you've trolled the community by peddling a competitor's wears, maybe he's justified in returning the favor. (Not that I condone sexual harassment, of course.)

And oh how that #3 cut me deep. I'd apologize for not being an HnH good ole boy, but I don't care enough. I've been playing Salem for the past six months and watching if not participating in the forums since then. I realize the transition many HnH players were forced to make as Salem gathered up all of the dev's attention, and I realize some of those players are less than enthused with the differences. I also realize that other players here would likely enjoy Topia Online. All I'm saying is that the Chief's reaction is arguably justified (sans allegations of sexual harassment) and I personally feel that posting here was a tasteless, lazy means of fishing for players.

I'm sorry to again add to your daily reading allotment, by the way - that last 182 word "wall of text" must have really been a challenge.

Topia would be intresting to me, if you removed the scripting aspect from it.

Seriously it has good concepts but just seems like its mashed together for a group of coders to have fun with.

From how i look at it, yes the model of selling scripts in shops so others can buy them is interesting, but it just will not happen. Top coders will horde the best of scripted codes, ensuring they remain in power over everyone else with the automation side of your game. I have read almost everything about your game i have found and looked deep into it.

From what i understand it will be a game for coders and scripters to use there knowledge in a game based environment to see who is the best. This game will appeal to less of a community than salem / HnH ever did. Also that combat system i have seen just begs fail. fail fail fail.

So yea, the game looks good and interesting. Yet i will never contribute / play the game unless combat was totally revamped to make more player controlled combat for when your online, and maybe AI for if your offline (like i hate how u can summon kill players on salem if they are offline and totally defenseless, even if they dropped a scent in self-defense, big fail.), Also the scripting, Sadly such things says to me "lazy developer who cannot be ***** to code AI" and will sadly ensure i never play your game.

I will say, your game will be great for people who are interesting in AI automation in code / script form, and not much else. I can never see it attracting a casual player base ever.

EDIT: Unless you seriously dumb-down the coding / scripting side of it so even a 10yr old can make amazing scripts with time through trial and error, which im sure will never happen. (too much work for you)
