P.S. any LoL players should add me, I rarely play now that I have a real game to play but I still log on a couple times a week to get my daily win. Same name as on the forums.

the game mechanics of other games i mention have nothing to do with why i bring them up to compaire them to Salem, its the amount of players / player base they have attracted, and how the community is run, to attract new players and keep the game good and clean.

I played League of legends since the beginning of closed beta and watched how they taught it would stay small, but they as a development company showed huge ambitions, they turned an idea of a little arena game into the worlds biggest Arena game, with over 80million players with championships worth millions of pounds up for grabs. This is not the only game i have played since closed beta and saw how they grew from a little ****** community with endless people saying XYZ(Like this community currently has) to thousand/millions of players into a multimillion / billion gaming company, some crashed and burned, some continued. League of legends is an example of "growth" i was using, and in no way shape or form i was trying to compare the game play between the two.

Yeah, I think you're correct in saying "most", as it's usually only the big ones that have a dev team that can commit the time to developing a proper interface system that allows mods and add-ons. However, some of them run such atrocious software to keep players from hacking it's almost not even worth playing them. Still doesn't prevent players from hacking and faking their way past the security. It just prevents the lazy guys like me from pulling it.

I dont agree. Most MMOs do. It just needs to be much more harder to use them as the mod-clients should needed to be updated after every small server-update and players using it should be banned and losing all their money spend in Salem. This would work.

Most MMOs don't have:
  • permadeath
  • sandbox play
  • Java client
  • 1 programmer
  • open source friendly philosophy
  • linux/pc/mac support
  • CONCEIVED IN LIBERTY

Closed source client and h4x pr0t3ct10n would require complete reprogramming of the client in a different language and multiple compiles for different platforms or dropping support for some platforms. Not going to happen. You'll sooner get loftar to switch Windows.

Do you people even understand the devs' philosophy AT ALL?

wtf are you on? LoL devs have spent stupid amounts of money to make that "game" a "esport". The only reason they have as many "pros" is because they are paying them to leave Dota 2.

Whos talking about the "Pros".

"80 MILLION PLAYERS" speaks for itself, when there first projections in the beta development never expected to grow beyond 1m, The "money" did not attract 80 million players, its the way the community was run that done it. Well of course the game, but history has shown, any game on any gene can grow into million of users if done in the correct way.

from 80 million players <10% play on a "competitive" level, and even <0.1% of them make it into the prized contests, so your argument about the prize money is what drives people to play league of legends it total *****.

Calm down rage kid. I never said that a majority of people play for prize money. I was refering to the fact that they throw around large ammounts of money to keep the game a esport and pay pros alot of money to leave other MOBA games. Fact is that LoL is babies 1st MOBA. Kids who play that terrible game can't stand up to a dota player. I would put money on the terrible Russians and Brazilians who plague dota2 then a decent LoL player

Maybe you should stop using a MOBA game for example on a sandbox MMO. They are not the same at all. Jorbtar cant throw around the money like riot does to make it as big as they are now.
