You are playing a game in OPEN BETA that has less players and content then a game in ALPHA

As a side note you need to get into #haven more and talk to loftar. They have been wanting to do something for HnH for awhile now but haven't been able to yet. There is also a quote from jorb somewhere saying that hnh is always their baby and they will always give it some love.

Yeah, Alpha, but what kind of Alpha doesn't have an update in a year.

Like I've said before, they need to choose one and declare the other one dead. Salem pays the bills. HnH is their baby. They can't develop both of them.

Claeyt, I have no problems with you and I see you as a fairly decent guy, but you seem to be speaking out of your ass a lot of the times when it comes to haven development. I've spoken with both Jorb and Loftar on many different occasions about the future of haven and it is not a dead game. They have every intention to return to haven and the fact that Loftar had been searching for half a year + for an answer to the lag is proof enough that they care. Not to mention that even during the horrible lag, Loftar got the server back up whenever it crashed very quickly. They do care, there just is not the time for them to be dedicated to two projects at the moment. I can accept that and I do wish the best for Salem, though I do not enjoy it as much currently.

You're right, it's not dead (Edited post) but it is an older version of Jorbtar's idea of where these games are going. It has probably peaked as a game and will not be growing very much bigger. Salem is the future of these games. I'm sure Loftar will maybe add a little bit here and there and press 'reboot' on his computer at home when it crashes but HnH doesn't seem to be going anywhere. At least Salem seems to be developing (insert random Dev jokes here). I'll state again that the biggest reason for the drop in population on Salem was that the HnH lag fix occurred, then less than a month later they changed the purity and major game mechanics of Salem. (Also some HnH players lost their mains over a few weeks :D )

HnH seems like a nice little game with a dedicated population, but it's really nothing more than a hobby for Jorbtar. Salem is their bread and butter and also their future in the world of game developers (which is a very small world). If Salem succeeds, their game development future will continue. If it doesn't then it will become something else. Who knows, maybe they're the next Sid Meier. If they really wanted to make Salem come alive they would close HnH, thank all their dedicated fans and give them all free HnH transfer gear (Bear Armor for every HnH account) and a gigantic pile of silver transferred over in Salem and then concentrate on developing a single great game that wasn't competing with their other older game.

I suppose this is just where we will have to agree to disagree then :)

Hey it's the Dev's world, we just play in it. They can do what they want with their games. I'm just throwing out ideas to help. Paradox is paying them to grow this game tho. I'm sure they're feeling the pressure of a shrinking population. I've been trying to help them grow this game as much as anyone over the last 6 months by trying to help newbs in game, and ask older players to be nicer to noobs on the forums. But HnH just might be an anchor to population development on Salem. Let's just call Salem 'World 7' (or whatever it's up to now) and be done with it and move on.

Haven and Salem are 2 very different games, not just in development time and haven being more complete content wise, but the whole game is different when it comes to setting, combat, quality of items, travel and character growth. (Curiosities and inspirationals are similar but that's about the only real resemblance aside from some of the items used/crafting method)

A ton of things are based on haven, but Salem is far off from a 3D replica

Where they are the same is in the Players. Hundreds of HnH players have tried or are continuing to play Salem. A very few Salem only players have tried HnH. It's the same developers and similar games. They are competing with each other for players.

The thing is, haven is clearly winning. And if it were not haven, it would just be some other game. No one is going to ***** around in Salem with these **** purity updates. They will simply move on. So because of this your solution of closing Haven is very flawed. Should they close haven, people will simply leave Seatribe all together. (Or at least until purity is no longer teh suk)

I would much rather have players shifting between games based on content rather than leaving to possibly never return.

You may be right, but all those HnH players will probably stick with Jorbtar and hope for the best. Yes the purity update sucked, but they've hurt the high stat guys the last 2 updates (*****, that multi-skill bump alone was a newb weapon from heaven) and this mushroom update killed one of the high stat guys favorite foods while traveling (Witch's hats).

More importantly ask yourself this: What happens if HnH does win. Jorbtar is being given a chance here by Paradox. If HnH wins that means their Dev futures are in doubt. Their own game may hurt their Dev chances. It's almost Shakespearean.
