Progressive tolerance in action. The bastard child of universal suffrage and public education. ^^

Here's another child of universal suffrage and public education saying:

Fight ideas with ideas, and words with words folks. No name calling. That's how you lose the game of ideas.

Respect the person, show them something new, change their mind.

I have doubts as to the efficacy of any methods after he posted the most extreme reactionary philosophy I've seen on a forum. This is all pretty much for the lolz now.

I do believe in the values and stories about morality in the bible, they are wise lessons, mostly.
A lot of it is total nonsense, thought up to oppress mankind and if you have a little bit of common sense, you will see that.
Somehow a lot of religious people read a totally different bible than i have and abuse what is in it for their own gain.
People who believe in some form of god and treat people with respect (if they deserve it) i have no problem with.
People who try to force their religion upon me as being the one true thing, i despise.
I am not afraid to die, in fact, it will be either nothing or something, in the last case i will go "wow!, cool!"
If this god then exists, i shall be granted forgiveness for my "ignorance", right?

I sincerely hope jorb is trolling like a madman.

My views exactly, nearly word for word in fact

Well written, and I have to concur. Mankind is the same slavering animal it has been since the dawn of time. Nothing has changed other than those that control the whips. At least in a democracy I can choose which taskmaster I slave under.

I wish I could state what I have learned effectively, but I'm afraid I'd end up writing a novel, and I'd probably sound like an incoherent madman before I was half done. I don't want to be Ayn Rand.

I'd love to say "end the derail," but how do I kick jorb out of the thread? ¦] When you come down to it, the whole issue is about empathy and the lack thereof. Morality is only a way to enforce empathy for those that never developed it.

I've always how one could consider themselves "Christian" and uphold some of the conservative ideas that float around in the church for the last 2000 years.

But you don't, though. You get to vote. There's an enormous difference.

The choice isn't between one candidate or another. His choice of taskmaster is that of choosing to live within the democratic government and society, no matter who's in charge for the term.

You seem to labor under the assumption that the ruling party actually changes between terms. You fail to consider, however, the more important circumstance that the political class always stays the same.
