Something worth noting here: Quite a few of the moderators aren't actively playing right now. What the means is we log onto the forums for the community, not because the daily goings and raidings of Salem influence us in any way.
After taking a break due to health issues, I came back to the forums specifically to help (I can't really play salem anymore due to carpal tunnel). And what I'm finding is the community trolls riling up everyone against the mods and claiming we need less moderation, even zero where possible. Not to mention a lot of the events in question seem to be people really pushing the limits on what they can try to get away with anyway. And what they're pushing for is mostly in their best interests. I don't think however that this is the best interest for the majority of forum goers. Forums where anything goes are very hostile and will do a good job of killing future parts of the community who aren't "internet veterans" with thick skins. Especially when you consider we get casual gamers in Salem due to the crafting elements.
Mistakes can be made, have been made, will be made. We're not getting paid to do our work, but Moo is. His job is to oversee us and make sure things aren't getting out of hand with our judgement. And trust me, he does dole out reprimands when we make mistakes. But due to the lack of recent game content, and the game not having enough content to self support yet, some individuals have honestly taken to provoking the mods from what I can see. No wonder we're making mistakes if we're being harassed.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
