However for pro-guns it is still a fallacy but less so. It's true that more guns would make society and households safer, but only if everyone are responsible. Which is obviously not the case. Less gun owners doesn't make the world safer for everyone though. What would make the world safer is either a) all gun owners to be responsible or b) No gun owners at all. Ever again.

More guns have never made any society safer, ever. We have the most guns of any country in the world and we are not safer. What makes a society safer is one that accepts gun ownership as an incredibly hard thing to do with many regulations and requirements before one can buy a gun.

What are you talking about?

Do you mean that because of national service laws in Switzerland they have more guns than say France, and they're also safer? This is mostly a myth. Guns aren't as prevalent in Switzerland as they used to be. Also selling and publicly carrying those guns is strictly prohibited. They also have very limited access to ammunition for the military issued rifles.

You're right, we should make it as hard to buy and sell guns as it is to buy, sell and carry alcohol.

You shouldn't be able to buy or carry a gun unless you're over 21. Local Government should be allowed to require city permits for anyone to sell a gun in their city. Local government should have the right to allow or disallow the sale of guns in their city. Local government should be allowed to determine the time and hours of operation of gun sales. Federal law shouldn't allow online sale of guns, just like it's illegal to sell alcohol online. You shouldn't be allowed to have a loaded gun in your car.

There are many more regulations for the sale, purchase and public use of alcohol in America than there are for guns.

Research a little???

I think you're the one who hasn't researched Swiss gun laws. In 2007 they disallowed private ownership of the ammunition for the militia rifles they use. They have personal gun laws with slightly more access to guns than the rest of Europe but they are signatures to the EU treaty on the sale and transportation of firearms. So the basic Swiss gun situation is that you have many men who own rifles issued to them by the military but very few of them have ANY ammunition for those rifles. There is a higher ownership of hand guns than most of Europe but it's still at about half the rate of the US. Next time try a little education instead of just spouting off "The Swiss have tons of guns and they're safe because of it."
