Lol.

Seriously though, if you log out with your beloved containers or whatever else on unclaimed land or even a p claim, you'd best be prepared to log in and find them gone. If you're living in a town, you have to be prepared to log in and find a waste claim. It's a fact of life in this game that these things happen. If you're gonna rage quit over such things then you might as well quit playing now. Personally i love that i could lose my bases and characters, and i know there are plenty of people who feel the same.

I love it too; but look at reality.

I had the rare opportunity to look at a partial map compilation recently... I'd say 60% of the map revealed... I even added to it. The map is so big 1000 peeps could be playing and there's a decent chance you could wander around and still not see anyone. Today... what server boasts 100 peeps? None. Hell Roanoke gets up to 70... most I've seen of any them.

The town wars are gone. The constant PVP is gone. Sure, there's a few big players out there... and community such as it is focused in one area of the map... still this is not the robust map/community you appear to want/look for. Worse yet, the experienced are leaving and while there are newbs... can't wait until they discover the purity grind... most will leave.

Salem as it is today is dying.

I'm not miffed; I'm still enjoying, learning, accomplishing; but when that's up... I'll leave like many others.

Until population goes Ballistic again... game will continue what it is today.

It won't go Ballistic until

1. Wipe
2. Legacy Humors (and those that benefited from it) disappear. Yes- I'm talking about you Binks- imagine a few might return with no changes the moment you are declared dead/deleted.
3. A new server that can only accept brand new peeps... no silver, legacy, etc applies...

Given Jorb's close relationship with Tribe (rumor, but realistic)... suspect option #3 is the only shot Salem has at a resurge...

two cents

Exactly the point I'm trying to reach out to Jorb with.

Maybe Tribe really is spending $1000/week to maintain their dominance... but I would think 1000 newbs all thinking they have a chance at success would bring in more than a handful spending big bucks... I guess Jorb chickened out and went for the smaller, certain cash bs Milllions he might otherwise get.

Hey, instead of wishing for a better game and lamenting on Salem's faults... perhaps we should pray Jorb grow some bigger balls... seriously... that's what bigger community prospect's in Salem boil down too. Risking a small, regular payday vs a BIG one...

Granted it might be too late- lots have been run off already... but an old saying, "If you don't play...you can't win"

If you can't risk anything- you can't win anything...

Frotted, you're insinuations about Jorb are really unrealistic. Why don't you just accept two things. 1) Development is not easy and takes time. 2) The developers do not share the same philosophy that you do.

I have to +1.

If you truly haven't been around longer than circa October, you may not be aware of the updates which occurred frequently in the past and the problem they caused. Further, during my time as a hermit, I played for 4 months and never met anyone. The one person I bumped into was a planned meeting when a forum friend dropped by for a visit. If you're concerned that the maps are all discovered and too small, don't be - they are infinitely expandable (to my knowledge). If you're concerned that population is low, don't be. All jorb/loftar have to do to revitalize the game is come out with a new patch and begin a process of leaking teaser images until the next patch is done. Nothing gets people hard like teaser images.

Your concerns are misplaced. Jorb is aware of many of what you consider problems that are killing Salem. Be patient. You are part of a game in open beta. It's not finished.

Exactly...

What's intolerable is Dev's willing participation and collusion with legacy materials. It wasn't 'old mechanics' that needed revisting that split the Devs from Paradox(sp)... they put their foot down that Jorb couldn't reward his buddies with special perks... and he decided otherwise.

That's how I see it these days. Updates are infrequent, negligible... hints are noteworthy but insubstantial, etc... yet Legacy **** persists.

End of Story.

I'm about sick of playing for YOUR pleasure. YOUR being the legacy folks... most who have moved on. I don't see a single indication that Salem has a future other than a poorly worded "We'll get around to it when we figure it out" (essential translation Dev message)... post on forums in October.

WTFU... Devs... when you finally decide it's time... when all your co-conspirators in the Dev developed gaming business like Star Citizen etc launch their programs... where will Salem rank then? Will it even be mentioned?

I don't know what Tribe has promised you- I know by visiting Plymouth that they put more cash in your pocket than any other Outfit/Server/Guild/etc... I hope it's enough... and I hope it never runs out... because when they desert you... it'll be far too late to win back market share... customer you are losing now... and continue to bleed.

A new Salem... ? Folks who know will remember the 'OLD Salem' and won't even give you the time of day... Tribe has proven the sandbox concept of what NOT to do... you've become the textbook case of how to avoid game slow-death. Congrats! What a resume builder you've created. And you can't blame your Boss!... you are the Boss.

My two cents.

I like your game, but your management of it is Piss Poor... and considering how long its persisted... I won't give any new endevor the time of day... nor will I for any game you get hired to help with... and I will be watching.
