The real idea behind this is to see what factors hit player numbers (both increase and decrease). Namely data around update time (before, after and the day after) might shed light on how much updates really effect player population. It MAY also indicate (when referenced to HoB threads) how much PKing and other such activities effect player numbers.

Ever since the farming purity nerf, the updates have not been affecting the playerbase at all. As you can see from my poll 71% of the active forum users are in favor of a new server, with 44% of them NOT EVEN PLAYING SALEM until there is a new server. And then there are all those douchebags that think they should just wipe the current servers (which isn't likely to happen when people have invested cash into the game).

Unfortunately, you should have started this project a long time ago because as the game is right now, this information is irrelevant unless Paradox starts a major advertising campaign or drops the game on Steam.

I could just whip up a script that does this automatically for us... say every hour?

OK I have a script which gets triggered every 15 minutes by cron to save the server stats to database and it looks like it is working fine.

In the meantime I will see to making some web site to display the data on a table or graph or something...

Why would he make one for a dead or dying game?

Why would he make one for a dead or dying game?

Why would he only make one for haven? Isn't this thread for a Salem count? ¦]

I think Salem will be very successful once it's developed a little more, but I don't think it will ever have a large playerbase specifically because of the major grind and slow pace towards mid/end game.
