I personally feel that the guard of honour is there so that people wont grab the coffin, open it and check she really is dead.
The point I am making here is that she is being made a special case, and Jehesus, why pick HER? She was in power over 20 years ago and people still loathe her. This is a woman who sent armed police against unarmed protesters and forever created a barrier between North and South and West and East, basically anyone who isnt in London lost out big time by her policies... and yet she is the only prime minister being given this honour. Yeah she has to be buried, but dont make it a bloody state funeral.
Sounds like the problem you have is that Churchill did not receive this honour. I agree with you there. He was one of the most important political figures of the 20th century.
Not sure what that has to do with Thatcher, though. She played an instrumental role in winning a potentially catastrophic war against a dangerous superpower, and her results on the economy speak for themselves. Whether or not you like her politics (I disagree with many of her positions), she was an important and beneficial figure in British history.
