Yeah I have no plans on alt-vaulting if I can avoid it, but maybe that will change when I get some worthwhile things to protect. It feels dishonest to me, considering the entire point of the game is to build a defensible place to store your belongings.

My guess, from the short time I've been here, is that there is essentially an upper limit on how well you can defend your land, but no upper limit on how easily you can pillage. If that were fixed, maybe more people would stash their belongings properly, rather than alt-vaulting.
The sweat and blood shed by its people had established a strong foundation upon which the most powerful entity in the world would be built.

or maybe the fact that you can easily lose several months of grinding if you do not altvault any highest purity dowsing rods/highest purity seeds and get raided.
Losing that much work when you can prevent it with a couple of seconds delay when you DO need those items (which is rarely) just makes it a no-brainer for me...
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Consider it part of the game until the DEVs change it. Reality is you can have everything destroyed quickly. To have all you have done for a couple months vanish overnight is part of the game. Having a few key things on a 'mule' to help you get back on your feet is HUGE.

Seeds, rare inspirationals (WSS, etc), or even some iron bars and leather has value.

The level you take it to is up to you, but not using 'mules' is more self-torture than anything. Personally I have a lot of 'mules' and have very little/nothing of value stored in my claim. Someone could get my current harvest, and a few seeds and flour, but no chests of goods.

If Paradox/Seatribe say it is not allowed I would agree that it should be 'fixed', but it is allowed and I consider it a critical part of how to play. My 2 cents.

It is a ****** game mechanic. Devs may as well let us build storage units which are unaccessible and indestructable by outsiders rather than play this charade which is not fooling anyone.

Devs need to make their mind up and decide whether they do want alt-storage to exist or if they want people to store things inside the physical game world where they could be stolen.

There are multiple ways to remove alt-storage but they also affect how the game is played. I rather have alt-storage removed and embrace the lesser of two evils.

It is funny how they hate any form of character-vault, but not storage-vaults.

You don't have to actually do it. The only thing I have vaulted is backup seeds to get started again if SHTF

You don't have to build walls either, but the game mechanics encourage certain behaviour.

What in this game isn't VERY easily replaceable that you just have to store them on alts?

Other then high Q seeds.

Most games have a bank system where you can store a few things per character or per account. Maybe one reason the devs do nothing about alt vaults is they plan to make the town bank more useful in the future?

each one of those "mule" characters is still a developed character that took time to make (and in the case of raider characters with several hundred to their stats, highly developed) unless you are ***** that a character made for fighting did not train farming skills, or that a farmer did not take the time to get 500 yellow bile.

but that sort of argument would be completely retarded, so that must not be what you are saying at all. right?
