when i started to play, there was a stall with 100s serum to buy.

That is most fortunate for your sake.

It's just something everyone has to overcome. If a snake is chasing you, like someone said, head for water. They can't even walk on the shallows like most animals can. Or, use run when you're near a cliff so that you can climb up/down the cliff before the snake reaches you to bite.

Back then, I used to run to the water, stand there, and use punch or stomp at the snake just out of reach of it. When it dies, you take the body and butcher it. If you do this enough times (and have small game hunting), you'll probably find an etterfang. With one of these, a garlic (only like 8 silver in player stalls) and two oakworth, you can make your own serum. Keep at it.

snakes can be pretty annoying but just avoid them at any cost.
i was KO'ed a few times when they spawned at my leanto when i started
avoided them best i could untill i could one hit them and then i went running around with nothing important on me lifting logs one hitting them untill i found a etterfang when butchering them.
funny thing is when i could one hit them and was lifting logs 1 of 30 ish if even that atkd me.
We never left, We just lay low and the lower we lay we stay connected and make dough.

Snakes can't cross or enter shallow water, so crossing rivers will save you. Also, you can kill them by luring them to the water and standing where you're safe. It's time consuming, but you can get a fang or two to make yourself some antivenom that way.

(swamps don't seem to count as shallow water)

If you have a sword and ~20humors I'm pretty sure you can one hit a snake too, just be careful still.
