They're an indy studio who is paying for an mmo out of their own pocket, so when approaching this game, it might be best to judge it like you might have judged Haven back in 2008. That being said, unlike both Salem and Haven, this lacks whimsy. Salem and Haven are clever blurs of history and folklore that tickle my jimmies, like delicious jam or honey that you put on toast for a tasty snack. This game is just dry toast. Maybe even a little stale (no idle animations? What kind of third world experience is this?) It's clearly in competition with Salem and Haven as a crafting sandbox with PVP, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have permadeath. The developers also announced that they were going to change the graphics/sprites to 3D, which will be a huge step up, but for a game that's already been in development for this long to change something so major to the feel of its game kind of makes it feel like they may not have the most concrete vision of their end product. I'm not sure I would have confidence in a game like that enough to invest in it with cash shop purchases, but since it's a Buy-To-Beta game, you're kind of forced to do just that if you want to experience it.
Idk. I can think of a few better uses for $15, including games that aren't Salem.
CSGO is 15 dollars, Stardew Valley is 15 dollars, Rocket League is 15 dollars, and this game is... 15 dollars too? Wut
