Lime prices skyrockets as people need to either dig massively around a lime pit or forage lime in areas where it spawns.
Sounds like something Obamacare would be involved with.

Darwoth wrote:no, according to every conversation i have had with him there will be no resets but for the expeditions. if you want a new server either wait until then or go over there and work to end that one, the only reason this expedition got "stale" is because the playerbase is largely passive and because it was the first one, with a slight tweak in victory conditions i am sure they will continue to improve.
if nobody else does before the end of the winter i will head over to popham and kill the server to create a new one.
leelee is mad that he cant compete on either server, so like every other ****** newb he wants a reset to wipe out the efforts of everyone else so he can feel like he doesnt suck for a month again.
resets will not happen because
1> JC himself knows just how much they suck as that was one of his primary complaints as well when he was a player like the rest of us and jorb went back on what he told us and reset the game anyway causing massive loss of the old players that made salem what it was.
2> all of the flavor items that are given out on rare events and become part of the games history would be meaningless (goat masks and wigs during the introduction of witchcraft are but one of many examples of these legacy items)
3> as the server matures the game generates a history, this is something sorely lacking in modern games in general, much less ***** games that reset.
4> the sheer amount of effort in doing things like acquiring lucky skills, chiseling a mine into dreamworld, building thousands of tiles of brick fortifications and so on. again for something to be meaningful it needs to have this level of effort attached to it, wiping it would be the stupidest thing one could do.

That's not going to sit well with some.
A new server would put everyone on equal play ability. Oh- sure you old farts could advance quickly... but you'd have to divide time between original and new. Same as with the expedition- so maybe three ways... etc.
I agree- no reset... but a new server would be worth it for some of us who don't have the longevity in the game that you, Darworth, or others have. You can hardly call the 'original/Beta' server a competitive place when you consider ANY individual toon vrs your Main and the time it takes to grow that much..
Seriously?

Darwoth is hardly a god in this game. There are no such things as a gods here. Any character can be killed by much weaker ones if you do it right. Darwoth just happens to be very good at using the mechanics of the game to his advantage and at tricking people into doing foolish things.
Anyone here can catch up to anyone else in a matter of a few months if they work hard. This is mostly due the fact that Salem has diminishing returns, unlike a lot of games. In Salem, you get a lot of benefit out of the things you do early on, but once your base reaches a certain level of defense, there isn't much you can do to improve it without crazy amounts of extra work that most people will never do. Same with characters, you reach a certain point and it's not worth going higher unless you just think it's fun to pour vast resources into incremental improvements.
And the huge map size makes it fairly easy to find an out-of-the-way corner to live for months without being found, building up strength all the time. If you're really cautious or paranoid, building in the mine and other tricks make it possible to hide how strong/rich you really are until you're ready for a big splurge of expansion and defense building etc, so that even if raiders do find you, they might pass you by as not looking worth the effort.
