Haha, you guys talking about me? I just checked out the game—things are really different now huh? Last time I checked it out (25th March 2014) things were pretty much the same.

Anyone wanna catch me up on what's been going on in the past year? I'm going through all the patch notes now.

Weeeeeelcome back!
The game is much more interesting now! there are butterflies, turtle, salamander, bee, cougar, creepy trees, 3 heads turkey, diseases (which kill you), and much, much more! Better mining system, permadeath enhanced, more base secure, better inheritance. Oh you will love it.
And then the taxe system, the stall, the new gluttony overhaul, purity overhaul, more crops, fruit trees, new wall types, layered mine (up to 9 level!), new Steel making system, new storebought items with great benefit (that didn't break the game). Oh I can go on and on and on.
Best part, we have an update every month!
Also, the Tribe desolved due to internal struggle, JohnCarver the developer is rumored to be Chief Peepokaka. TotallyMeow could have something to do with TotallyMoo ¦]
Darworth is still here
We have some awesome fights every once in a while.

I remember watching GamerZakh when I first started playing. I learned a lot.

Thank you GamerZakh, if you do decide to play again let me know. I would like you to join our start up town (no town claim yet and only 3 of us so far). You will be able to start from the ground up basically.

What ever you decide, Good Luck and keep streaming!

You might want to watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgYuFF6o3As
and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsxHu-ynYZg
and maybe some of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBIrEGQK-p0 because there is like 5 new darkness monsters some of which are horribly deformed versions of the normal ones, we have fur fur, wishpoosh, hydrukeys, argopelters, rats, am i forgetting anyone?

 now we get to guide you, also latikai client has an option to hide your minimap if you plan to establish a little bit in providence.

Also witches are a thing now, they want to make it so it always remains kind of mysterious, you can be a witch by crafting a special doll made with a hat given on this event
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVoa1GK-Qo0 and only another witch can craft it.
Currently the hat is obtainable by chance on a mysterious hat box. And you kind of level up as a witch unlocking new and more powerful curses.

Well, there's too much new stuff to just list it all. Almost all game mechanics have been updated or revamped:
- gluttony and food
- gear and artifacts
- combat
- mining
- purity
- inventory system (to weight based)
- crime mechanics

New stuff added like:
- witchcraft
- new darkness monsters
- new crop (potatoes), plenty od new potables, a bunch of new trees
- plenty of new foragables and inspirationals and food
- steelmaking, prospecting
- tutorial island

And many other stuffs, with the most important ones being reduction of lime and hay grinds ¦]

SO much its hard to even picture what it was like back then.

Purity: Full rebalence in all areas where purity is ablicable (food base items mostly). Salt, Mercuary, Sulfar and whatever the other one was are now completly ignored. Aether is now the importent score on an item and shows how pure it is. 100% food gives 2X its stats to both heal values and gluttony values.

Seasons: Everbloom gives more field yeild as well as butterflys, fruits and bears. Cold snap gives us more lard from beavers and faster cooling for many metal processes (good thing). The last season is the Blood moon - induced by witchs and will cause all players who are KOed outside and in its light to die.

Farming: Has been rebalenced so that fields, pots and coops all retain and gain purity slowly as they are used with high purity goods (as well as good ol' luck rolls). Its led to the purity gain being much slower and steady as well as increasing just how important long term fields, coops and pots are. We now have lots of new pot foods and even potatoes! Fruit trees have just been added and will only produce fruit when in range of a butterfly house or a hive of bees, it also needs to be the everbloom season.

Sickness: You can now catch 4 diffrent types of illness each with their own cure. The only want to tell how to cure your character is to watch its symptoms (Dizzyness, vomating, coughing, headache) and work out what you have. After around 8 hours of being sick your caracter will start taking bile damage and if they faint while their sickness bar is full the will die.

Hunting: Light areas now have Cougers to worry about - rare but really nasty. Meat purity is based off the knife purity that butchers the meat, Knives ware out and have to be replaced.
Dark areas have rats (which cause sickness), Hydurkeys (three headded turkeys), Wisposh (demented beaver), White harts and Furfurs (flying white deer), Tree lords (demonic trees that can spawn when chopping down a tree in the darkness) - all but the rats have a chance to permakill.

Mineing : Very recent rework. With diffrent tools you can now make Pig iron, wrought iron and steel as well as copper bars, silver bars (and even silver cut with iron if you dont mind the crime scent it leaves behind) and galvanised metal (dont know much about this). Making worght iron is often a team effort since you need to keep the bellows pumped while somone is working the metal.
Bats now spawn in the mines and will attack and suck your blood.
Mines now have 8 levels with a chance of dropping down to a new level when ever you dig out a hard rock tile. The deeper you go the rarer the drop down. After level 8 is a strange place called the dream world that can connect all dream world connected mines.

Safety: Walls are now super strong and there is a limit to the max damage that can be done to them. Mostly they just take time to take down. Reparing walls now takes huge abounts of matirials to balence this out. Brick walls have been added. Braizers are now best spamed but they can be put out with a simple bucket of water. Braizers do less damage. The wall splash has been removed from walls younger then a week (no more useing this bug to brake in).
Most buildings now need to be burned down to fully distroy them.

Witchcraft: Has been added along with curses using dolls, Bloodline cursing and lots more us god fearing people will never learn. Witchs take bile drain in the light but not in the darkness and monster animals (darkness only) will not aggro them (unless attacked). Only a witch can make the item to make another witch. Witchs that go past the 'beginner stage' can no longer be inherited from if they die.

In summery Salem has become more balenced and slower to progress in as well as much more threatening and open to death.
