In an Unfortunate turn of events. It appears that Witches were able to use a spell that required Claeyts name to be muttered in the topic of a Democratic forum post. The "Summoning of the Silly One" has thus been completed and Claeyt is now unbanned to wreck havoc and destroy logic throughout our world once again.

This should have been a Halloween event.

I'm glad Darwoth finally has his friend back! They sure seem to have missed each other terribly! :)

A lot has happened in the last year but i still think my prediction holds true. Everyone, including me, knew the republicants were going to take the senate with a slim, slim margin. More surprising were the Governor's races lost to them in CO and MA. I was surprised that the Dem's won the Senate race in LA but lost the senate race in CO. Overall it's a loss but this is a highpoint for the GOp. There's no possible way for the pubelicans to win more seats in either the Senate or the House. This election cycle had 36 senate seats up in almost exclusively conservative states. In 2 years the Democrats will take the Senate back easily in the presidential election year because there are so many Conservative senators from liberal states from the '10 election.

More importantly the Democrats have proven that New Hampshire and Virginia are now Democratic leaning for the Presidency. There is absolutely no chance that whatever small minded, cranky or just plain mean dip-wad the republips put forward can beat any Democrat. Clinton, Biden or even Warren can crush them. Hell I expect even you to vote for your fellow Virginian, Jim Webb in 2 years Darwoth, if he wins the primaries.

The only thing this election has shown is that it's been a tough year for Obama, There are some deeply unpopular conservative politicians that are only in office because of gerrymandered state and house districts and because of widespread voter suppression efforts by one of America's political party.

"As long as they fear people voting they'll never win another presidency." - George Bush Sr.

I wouldn't discount the general effect of the media in this outcome, either. Studies have shown, time and again, that a media pushing stories that increase public anxiety and uncertainty correlate positively with conservative political choices, independent of the actual political content of the choice. Lately, and for truly self-serving reasons, non-stories such as the ebola scare have been pushed to up ratings, but the ultimate outcome is a more conservative-leaning group of voters. The only part of this I find hilarious is that Fox News, never one to shy away from hyperbolic stories, actually criticized the ebola hype on several shows, while the mainstream media pushed it for all it was worth. Sigh.

When you're so far on the right that all the news media looks to be liberal, you need to re-evaluate your view on things. When you're so far left, all the news media looks to be far to the right, you need to do the same thing. When you look at the news and see relatively central views on things, you might have your head on straight. I don't speak of talking heads here, I'm talking about news coverage, though you can't hardly get the latter without the former today. (What ever happened to reporting the news and then letting people form their own opinions? Do the broadcasters think their audience is stupid?)

TV news media tends towards the right nationally, yes, and same with most print, but print varies more locally, and it's balanced with all the Internet news outlets. (Can't get more left than Huffington Post, I don't think, without going out into the fringe stuff, like Greenpeace.)
I am a moderator. I moderate stuff. When I do, I write in this color.
