New player

Postby Olag » Wed May 01, 2013 6:10 am

I'm thinking of playing this game. Can I create farms and weapons and houses without paying real money yet?
Also can I level up my survival and combat skills without being too hindered by paying players?

Please reply so I can choose to play the game or not!
Thanks

This game is very far from pay to win.

You don't need to pay a dime.

However you will never reach the top echelon on the 3 current server.

If you are content with being a mid-level hermit/player testing out PvE content great.

On Plymouth you need to pay the treaty or you will die.
On Roanoke if you commit crimes you will die.
On Jamestown if you build good enough defenses you will survive but still be way behind in stats/gear.

You have full freedom to do whatever you like. The advantages to buying things with real money are small.

Or if you want to raid and practice combat, you can join the Tribe on Plymouth.

But yeah, this game doesn't Require a dime. Most of the packages you can purchase for real money are just cool clothes. There are a couple packs that allow you to get skills faster, but getting skills is the most fun part of the game and doesn't take long so there's really no reason to buy them.

There's a huge transition to a new system going on right now, so you might have a little trouble with things like farming since the wiki is updated by players and we're not really sure what's going on yet ourselves. But you'll probably play for a month or so before that becomes a concern for you and by then, hopefully, the new mechanics will be more fully implemented and understood.

You CAN become one of the upper Echelon if your willing to put in a mind numbing amount of hours to catch up. I mean thousands and thousands of hours. :D

the great majority of jamestown top players are only in the 150 - 200 stat range, which is attainable by spamming 0% purity food, of the handful above 300 stats i have the majority imprisoned in their old town. there is probably a few enclaves somewhere but 150 - 200 stats puts you in the top tier for the most part on jamestown.

You can do just fine without cash. I bought a few things, but only to support the game. There is zero pay to win here. You can also play part time or hardcore if you want. The game is very flexible that way.

Just stay off the Plymouth server because of griefing and noob killing. It's turning into a ghost town.

Or, if you are a political genius or a combat prodigy.
