I havent played that long so correct me on anything im saying.

From what i seen this game is unique in alot of good ways.

Crafting/progression system is unique and i love it

Permadeath is always cool

And from what i seen lots of items/things to find.

All this makes the game fun and playable for hrs.

Then i experienced a wall...silver.. so i did some poking arround how a new player would acquire money sence its
Needed to actually claim land. 150 silver. Ok not too hard id assume read arround and was told study items and stuff like hay
Is valuable to people and they will buy it. And also i figured u can make the necklaces that sell for 35 silver from the Indian stuff but i dont want to run all over trying to find feathers i got arrow heads just no feathers. So i desided

To try and sell the stuff i had laying around . Went to Boston with some hopes of making something twards my goal
Well basicly i stood there and was ignored no one bothered so i tryed lots of different items. No bites. So now i like ok..



Ps i tried like for 15 mins like 5 times not even one person i also realized there no formal way to "trade" goods and i understand u cant trust someone yelling in town. But it seem like a wall to me i ether buy silver or go hunting for fethers to be able to enjoy the game more... but when i brought this up i was laughed at called a newb and told to move on are all ne player treated this harshly? I

This could be moved to the Help forum, but here goes:

Kill crickets, use 11 of them to make a "Cricket Team" and sell that to the NPC stall. They sell for 40 silver each. If you don't live near grasslands you can walk outside of Boston to kill them. That's how I made my first 300 silver.

To kill crickets you're going to want 10-ish Yellow Bile and Blood and the skills "Self Defense", "Small Game Hunting" and "Backalley Pugilism". Get close to the cricket, then turn on "Wander Mode" (makes you move a bit faster). Chase after the cricket until you get within about 2 tiles of it, then use the "Stomp" attack. This will agro the cricket. Now back off and wait for him to charge you. When he does, hit him with an uppercut. Do this one or two more times and it's dead.

If you want to sell foraged items like hay and singing old logs, post a thread on the trade forum. You'll find a buyer for hay I'd guarantee it.

When trading with someone there are no guarantees. The best you can do is memorize them (right-click menu) and if they scam you then put SCAMMER after their name. That way you know not to trade with them again.

Finally I would advise against buying silver in the cash shop until you know more about the game. Once you have a handle on how to play, certain mechanics and the importance of your resources, then go buy some silver and set up a settlement.

That first 300 silver I made I spent on building an unclaimed settlement with a mine and smelter. By the time the smelter decayed I had learned many things (one of which was building decay ). Now that I had some experience I bought 1000 silver and found a great little place and set up. Now I've got a decent little settlement with everything I need and it only costs 7 silver per day in upkeep. I make that just killing rabbits (you can sell the dry skins for 4s).

Just remember that in Salem anything goes, including your possessions. I'm sure at some point that settlement I spent $25 setting up is going to get razed to the ground. The best I can do is hide away important resources on a few alts so I can rebuild when that day comes.

Where is your leanto? I would recommend you position yourself in a big forest - autumnul or pine and then scour for singing logs and mushrooms. I made a good part of my starting capital selling those two items. Of course you should make a contact with a trader - post on trade forum hopefully someone will reach out to you and you stockpile your trade wares until they come online and you make a trade.

While scavenging for these items be sure to check every tree stump you come across, you will collect a bunch of snake skins and if you are REALLY lucky you will hit the lottery and find a whispering snake skull - easy 1,000s to another player. Sell the snake skins and kill any rabbits you find and dry their skins on racks by your leanto... 4s each snake/rabbit skin.

You do know there are select items you can sell to the white stalls? If you don't want to hunt for feathers, just kill a ***** of rabbits build some a bunch of drying frames (made out of sticks), hang the furs and sell them in 8h. With the amount of time you wasted trying to sell your junk to players, or posting about the trade system on the forums, you would have already had your 150s for a claim.

I don't know about now that animals run from you, but used to be ok to make cricket teams. It must be much more annoying now. Of course first you need to progress your char, gain humours, gain skills, I think 10 humours someone said? I don't remember, but you don't want to be knocked out by a cricket so first evolve you character a bit, it's enought to get you busy... after you have the skill "Thrust" buy a sword so you can one hit crickets, check blue stalls for cheaper swords than white stalls

After you get your claim up I would suggest getting an ore smelter up asap. There are so many things that needs iron bars and nails and they are expensive to buy, even from another player. Becoming self-sufficent in iron will help you immensely. Check on the wiki what you need to get your iron production going.

These days easiest is to find an abandoned claim with smelters and mine nearby. I found a couple before deciding to squat at one and plopped my claim stone on it. Nice setup all there for me. Only thing is I miss out on the build up part which is fun but I plan to defend this position for a temporary time stocking up iron, trying to make sales and scout further for a more permanent location I can start from scratch

So you say, but don't be surprised when your "temporary" location becomes permanent until the day you get raided . It's just so much easier staying and building than trying to re-establish yourself somewhere else...
