Field Size statement

Postby Kandarim » Mon Feb 04, 2013 12:10 pm

Well, I was wondering

I've been reading the forums for a good week now (a couple of days after I started) so I pretty soon bumped on the 1x1 field exploit & impending nukes/fixes.

All I see floating around are statements by mods that "it is dangerous, and could be nuked any day". However, those posts are easily weeks old & no action is seemingly taken.

Is there some decision made on the actual size fields will be after the "fix"?
4x4 is just ****, but 1x1 might be a bit small then.

In the mean-time I restricted myself to 4x4 because I don't want to lose my fields to a nuke, but honestly it's taking so much space that I'm getting really behind on the rest of the village, who just ignore all the talk and just continue with 1x1 fields. So far they seem to be right enough ...
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

They're not going to manually nuke the 1x1 fields as they find them, they'll simply nuke them all at once when they fix the actual field placement bug. And fields will be 4x4.

yes I figured they'd automatically nuke them, too...
I was just hoping they'd concede and make the fields smaller... they take so much space!

They probably won't nuke the fields, since the only way to actually know that a field is 1x1, is checking if it overlaps.

It would not be fair IF they nuke fields based on if they overlapped or not, since you can overlap the fields without a custom mod. (annoying people who didn't 'bugabuse')

So I'm pretty sure they will give a warning WHEN they are gonna nuke those fields. If they won't, RAGE inc.

I thought the bug was the ability to overlap fields in the first place... Imo using any type of overlapping fields is bug-abuse. 1x1 fields is just taking the bug-abuse to its extreme.

However, some, like myself, misunderstood the center of the fields and slightly overlapped them on accident. Personally I think they should be 3x3 so you can accurately find the center so they don't overlap.

Doesn't matter, since the fields are 4x4. Using overlapping fields is bug-abusing, though this being a beta, and this game being made by seatribe, I see no reason why we shouldn't use overlapping fields while they are in the game.

Could be that they don't nuke them all (only nuke the ones that "don't fit) or that they'll nuke all fields period. Heck, they could just make the decision to make the fields 1x1. (Boy, that'd be nice... just adjust the amount of product produced.)

magic if they decide to nuke the 1by1 fields what in your opinion will happen to structures built on top?
i went with 4by4 fields but i build and place objects on the fields. wasn't sure what would happen if they decided to nuke 1by1.

i assumed the nerf would just make it impossible to overlap fields but the building space would still be the same for some of the other stuff like braziers, sheds or placing barrels in a field .

Beats me. Depends on how they do things. I can think of several things they could do, manually and programatically, to remove objects that don't fit properly. Could be that they look at a field, if there's room, make it 2x2 (not 4x4 as someone else posted). If there's not room, remove the field. It could be that they expand the field, and if there's another object in the way, remove that object. They could do both. We are talking about a couple of devs that have been known to pull a fast one on the players in the name of teh lulz.
