How do you get rid of Hik-ups?

Postby DeepSixed » Fri Aug 05, 2016 4:23 am

You know burping every few seconds... hiccups, hik-ups, etc.

So how do you get rid of them?!

Got a serious case just now; can't get on voice chat and how the ***** to do I get rid of this in a hurry?

Please share your secret!

You've never had hiccoughs before? Is this serious? Your esophagus and diaphragm are irritated. Try holding your breath to stretch the muscles out, or drink something like a big glass of water.

What meow said, hold your breath. It differs from person to person though, one thing that works for one person might not work for another. In my own experiance, hold your breath for about 30 to 40 seconds or as long as you can. Don't walk around in that time or it won't work. It also won't work if you are chewing on something like gum.

I usually get rid of mine by drinking a very cold glass/bottle of water

I belched mine out after almost 2 hours; I was just hoping others could share their methods.

For me, hicups are usually triggered through a slight amount of air trapped in the stomach.
If you "feel" what the hicups reflex actually does, and go with it, it results in a burp, and the hicup is gone.

That's at least how it goes for me, I never, ever, hicup more than 2 or 3 times in a row, just let a bit air out and it's gone...

whenever I have them I just stop having them. Mind over matter.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

A spoonful of peanut butter. I've been doing this since I was a kid and it has never one time not worked instantly.
