Traditional Wall vs Tree Wall for Defense

Postby DeepSixed » Fri Jul 22, 2016 8:43 am

Under current rules time to beat down stone wall is dependent on bile; but time to chop down a tree is mostly dependent on quality of tool (and the right tool).

Stands to reason it's better to protect defenses with trees(which currently have no boundary requirements in relation to other trees)to a large degree. It takes a 'set' amount of time to chop them down and more to destroy the stump. All the while constantly under fire. Thus even a high bile fighter alt toon will take max hits (same as a lesser toon with same tool) to get through a tree wall and stump vs a stone wall (where they could utilize a bile component)..under the current rules.

Destroying a wall is one crime... but cutting down a tree and destroying the stump is two crimes~ under the city/plcaim shield.

Yes, no, opinions?

PS- My career is on hold; Real life stuff in the works. Does NOT mean I will play more often only advancement is unlikely next few months regardless; so why not ?

Thanks

You just equip a cheap woodcutting set and your trees are gone. Also you cant repair trees.

How long until you cut through the trees...and then the stump... two actions... and if you are doing this on someones claim/town, beyond trespassing...that's two plus crimes... cutting down the tree and destroying the stump... more than enough to activate any defense!~ brazier or torch?

What's the % damage against a tree with survival axe, iron axe, and steel axe?

Do biles play any part of the equation cutting down a tree and/or digging up a stump?''

The point is a high bile toon might wade through a wall in seconds... but a tree...he might still be bound by the game mechanics...REGARDLESS of biles.... and it will still take X time to get through it.

You say 30 seconds... wager that's more time than attacker had planned... and they haven't counted on breaking through stump...and again... assuming it's only 1 tree deep to reach the offending brazier/torch!

And if he doesn't use a shovel to destroy the stump (which is NOT auto equipped [no act of destruction gets auto equip]) the increments are NOT <10%... thus extending the time he's under the defense barrage, etc.

I can't repair trees but I can replant; and after repairing 20 sections of stone wall and using 900 pieces of granite 20 tree-lings is easy... if time consuming to do

Cutting down trees is many many times faster than destroying walls. Which you'd know if you actually tried it. Wall destruction speed is capped, e.g. for stone walls at 180 phlegm and plank walls at 360. They cap out at less than 1%/destroy tick - trees cap out at like ~10%? The extra crime act is neglegible to nearly everyone i'd say.

You just show your absolute lack of knowledge of the game mechanics with this.

No they don't!
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Stone walls take much longer to get through than you think. Tree walls are all but useless. Also, mortars.
