You sure you didn't get any XP from killing mobs? Last I checked with crickets, I gained like 10 XP per kill and for making cricket team, it's another 100 XP. Must be your client. Try this link in spoiler.

Thing is, this is a sandbox game, which means you make your own goals, you dont have them spelt out for you by the programming. If you want quests etc there are a lot of games out there that will give you that.
