Taking Q&A Requests!

Postby Eegore » Thu Mar 07, 2013 5:36 pm

Greetings Pilgrims! Some of you know me, some do not. For those who don't know me I have been covering Salem for almost a year and doing tutorials, Q&A's, update coverage, and more! Recently Salem has gone into open beta, and since a lot of new players out there are having a hard time getting started, I am looking for all your questions to start doing Q&A videos again. I'm here to hopefully make life a little easier for all the new players out there! So ask away!

The link to my video thread on the forums: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3902

Either PM me on here, in this thread or on YouTube if you guys have questions.

Thanks!

I don't think this is really right for the 'Help!' section itself, since this isn't really directly helping anyone. The final video will be welcome to 'Help!', for now I am moving this to City upon a Hill.

I would like to see proof of this. Not what other people say, and not the 2 videos out of 40+ I've made that "mention" the tribe. You really should show some proof before you make false accusations. Or wait...Rule #1: Don't feed the trolls.

This was the reason I posted this in the "Help!" section. For new players to see. As there is apparently nobody with a real question, only trolls. I see tons of threads in the "Help!" section that could be simply answered in one thread. I don't really see why this got moved, The purpose was to direct people that need help to this thread. So they could get the help they need.

You make an excellent point! AAlex's decision was questionable. I recommend posting about it here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=262&start=430 so this nonsense can end, considering a post specifically about helping people and Q&A belongs nowhere other than the Help! subforum, in my humble opinion.

What's your suggested tech route for a new player?

How many viable alternate playstyles do you think there are?
Someone should teach me how to play this game.

This is a sandbox game. What do you want to do?

You can play however you want really. The ones that are used the most is - Combat alts, crafters and labor characters for chipping stones and chopping trees so you don't have to expose your other characters and just lets the bots run.

Like Dallane said, break it down for the newbs. Salem isn't just about 1 character, think of them as tools for specific jobs or roles. Do no get attached to them because if you do and they die well you'll just quit. You need at least crafter, a combat/raiding toon, <<mules, lime pit diggers, lumberjacks and possibly others depending on your play style.

Need more emphasis on the persistent open world pvp and perma-death over say sweet crafting and nice things. Too many newbies rolling up lately with carebear attitudes and forum posts full of tears and 'this game is doomed' threads. Doing silly little things that costs them their character because they fail to realise in the wilderness anything goes and that next red dot that appears may as well be the wielder of the blade that ends you.
