dead people all around?

I was wondering if a nice fella could satisfy my curiosity.I was briefly visiting providence a few minutes ago. As i ported i noticed unusually many players around.When i reached Gramsey at the vendors,there were several dead unscalped people around me.I know nobody can kill you directly in providence,but i imagine there must be indirect ways.I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened.

Most likely these are players that did not have homesteads and were spawned in town while offline. A player without a homestead cannot log off even if they are physically not connected to the game. So no homestead means they are going to sit in town and gain madness until they die. I would not worry about it as this was probably not due to activity you should be concerned about as long as you keep your homestead.
